[rec]

saw this film at the cineplex last friday
a friend of ours who had been to Spain last year had been raving about it since january, got us a bootleg copy we couldn't watch because of mismatched formats, but finally watched it

interestingly enough, here in Mexico, REC is showing with the trailers for quarantine and Watchmen, the wife and myself almost soiled our pants, it just looks so much better on the big screen, we showed the gn to our friend afterwards, another Watchmen fan in the making

so, REC... damn Spanish, these guys are redefining horror, just see El Orfanato, Dia De La Bestia and pretty much any Spanish horror from the last ten years is pure mind****

and the funny parts in REC work great

found a dub version [rec] on torrent sites of all places! so now i have a dvd with both languages. still scary as crap!!

I saw both versions this weekend and I have to say the original is better, though I enjoyed both. I didn't care for Jennifer Carpenter's character and found her quite annoying. The explanation for the origin of the infection wasn't as good as it was in the original. Both were genuinely frightening. Most of that I owe thanks to the remake being a near shot-to-shot remake.

i have to say tho, if you didn't care for our U.S. heroine, you might have some underlying dis-like for Angela-Spain. they both started exactly the same way! and, well, you know. but carpenter's screams were so much better as she is the new scream queen.

but, Spain's uber-monster was better looking!

Just saw Quarantine today. It's been growing on me for a couple hours now and I'm really starting to like it more and more. I've never seen the original though but sI'll check it out

Quarantine was horrible. Lazy script, lazy acting, and a lazy story.

guess you say that bout the original too?

I actually haven't seen the original, so I can't comment on it.

oooh dude!!!! you gotta see it!! make the comparison, then judge for yourself. it's up on torrent sites and i got a dubbed version!

Is REC on DVD yet?

I really want to see it now and judging by the trailer it definately looks to be one of the scariest films Ive ever seen!

I'm downloading the original REC right now. Hope it's good.

Where are you guys watching it? I cant find it anywhere

just finished it. it was really good. the last 15 minutes or so were the scariest I've seen in a while. good news about the sequel!

Indeed. I hope it's a city wide spread and a camera man is filming it....would be cool

then it would be like cloverfield. you can do more if it's city wide, I think.

This is a GREAT horror movie; perfect execution and pretty scary...especially considering I watched it on youtube.

I loved how when someone was bitten they immeadiatly beged the others to run away. They knew what they would become. And they wanted them to leave. Also, When they try to get the mother off the cuffs at the stairs...oh man, seeing her get shred to peices was scary. They knew she was dead. I thought she was dead but she got up and went all Psycho...really good movie. You feel sorry for the Health Inspector. He locks himself in to try to stop from attacking them....

I'm talking about REC, not the remake :yay:

i cool sequel would be based in some foreign country and its being filmed by a few soldiers that are doing work in a small town and **** starts happening

then it would be like cloverfield. you can do more if it's city wide, I think.

If it becomes city wide, it's going to be like 28 days or something. Something we've seen before. "Rec" worked so well because it felt genuine and the closed setting of the apartment building added to the claustrophobia. A sequel's unnecessary, but I'll be willing to accept the movie if it's as good as the first.
