Iron Man Sequels Recast Tony Stark

Bradley Cooper.

He's got charisma and wit in spades.

Robert will always be Iron-Man and nobody on this planet will ever take his place. I would rather not see a Iron-Man 4 if Robert isnt Tony in it but if they have to i am open to the idea of a new Iron-Man as long as the character isnt the Tony Stark version but a new version of him that takes over.

What do you mean like John Blake style? Miles Morales? Tony Stark Jr? Rhodey?

No sir, they need to recast. I would be so full of wtf if they did someone else in Stark's spot.

Were you that opposed to the Bruce Banner recast?

I dont mind a new character as Iron-Man, maybe a friend of his or someone who becomes the new one just as long as the character isnt Tony Stark. Cant have Miles Morales since that is spiderman but just create a new character or his future son coming back to help from the future or something. If not that then War-Machine the movie or something.

I only want Downey Jr as Stark nobody else unless its a different Stark like a future son, grandson, etc.

Heres a funny one: The alternate version Iron-Woman named Antoinette Stark, his sister who becomes the new one or something but use the Earth 2301 story line and change it.

There is also his alternate version where he was born a woman not a man named Natasha Stark if they need to use that but I would prefer ONLY a Iron-Man 4 with Robert rather than a new person anytime. My vote is to keep Robert nobody else in the role only if they do then something like this.

New character as Iron Man = plain stupid.

New actor as Iron Man/Tony Stark = Fine and inevitable.

I DO NOT want to see a Iron-Man 4 without Robery Downey Jr. He is Stark and I hope he comes back for the next one during Avengers. If they need to figure a new power source for the suit as long as he comes back then i will watch the movie. I dont want to see him in it if he isn't in the movie plain and simple.

RDJ is Iron-Man and Stark Period!!

Matt Bomer. He fits this character much more than Batman or Superman. He's witty and his size won't be an issue thanks to the Iron Man suit.

Another vote for Jack Huston here.

Maybe they can finally do Demon in a Bottle with a more serious Tony Stark.

If they haven't so far, I doubt they will at any point.

THIS THIS and THIS

When it was announced they would make an IM movie, the 1st actor I thought about - heck the only actor I thought about - for the role was RDJ

When the news that RDJ was considered for the role broke, I couldnt believe it .... the guy I wanted for Tony Stark

"I am Iron Man"

Next should still have charisma and be funny, but also be a little more serious, in order to make the character gradually grow up.

Of course I dont mean any offense by saying this, but this viewpoint is slightly short-sighted.

After Avengers 3 RDJ will be roughly 53 years old and will have been in at least 7 Marvel films as Tony Stark. Let the guy have a break if he wants one. But the show must go on!

I do have have an open mind

Except when it comes to who plays Stark :woot:

Jake Gyllenhaal, if the idea is to find someone who can be (simultaneously) geeky and charming.

I have a hard time seeing anyone other than Luke Evans as a new Iron Man.

That's a rather dumb mentality to have even if it is your opinion. So many people said the same thing in 1967 when Connery left the Bond series and look here we are in 2014 and the Bond series is in the best shape of it's life and Craig is arguably one of the best Bonds ever and to many, the best.

Agree.

The power source for the suits will probably always be the arc reactor, though. Unless Tony gets his hands on the tesseract as was teased in The Avengers.

I still maintain that Bradley Cooper is the only name in Hollywood today with the range and charisma to take the reins from Downey.

The only way I could see another actor in the role is if they went the reinvention route ala Casino Royale.

Cooper has no charisma or range, it's probably why they chose him to just be a voice of Rocket Raccoon.

Well, I think if that were the case then he wouldn't have been approached at all by Marvel, VA role or not...but ok chief, whatever you say.

For those saying they should entirely reboot Iron Man just because RDJ will leave...

But, yeah, within the context of this whole shared universe, a whole reboot would be ill-advised.

Save Iron Man 4 for when they recast Tony Stark. Thats when i would do it at least.
