The Flash Recasting Ralph Dibny Thread

Why should expendability matter?

You know thats how the world operates. Especially Hollywood. The more money you bring in, the safer you are.

That's kinda' beyond the point though.

They're recasting his character only to write his character off. Why even bother? Either keep the same actor and write the character off, or recast the character and keep him around.

They obviously just arent interested in continuing the characters story full time at this moment. At least he isnt disappearing off our screens all of a sudden like Kate Kane.

I'm honestly more interested in Sue Dearbon than Ralph Dibney. It's not like Oliver Queen married Dinah Lance. He ended up with Felicity. So why does Sue have to be with Ralph? She can be independent of him. Natalie Dreyfuss was the most interesting addition to the cast for years.

Does that mean that's how people should operate?

Why do we want to try and be more like Arrow?

Of course not. But also when your working you have to keep your job in mind when making certain comments.

I say you kill off the character, and replace him with a different character with the exact same persona.
if you kill off ralph you might as well kill off sue as well. She is crucial to ralph's story. using ralph's abilities to recast the character is poor writing. starting in the flash comics back in1960 all the way up til now.. he has only one main base form and so he can't really hold a shapeshifting ability it is the way he was in comics and the way he was written in the show.. with the exception of the sinister six story.. but then they would have to crossover with batwoman for that so that will be a no.

They will probably want to kill off Ralph offscreen and replace with him Plastic Man since they almost have the same powers :funny:
true.. but plastic man can change and keep a new form as elongated man can not.. plus plastic man is pretty much indestructible and intangible cause of the way he got his powers. it is explained in the comics how plastic man and elongated man are very different and also have different background stories and names.

She's not really crucial to Ralph's story in the Arrowverse. You'd think that Black Canary would've been with Oliver Queen, but she wasn't. Not only was she killed off but then we ended up with an alternate universe version in the end. Ollie didn't even bring back the original one. And on top of that, Ollie married Felicity.

So Sue could easily exist independently of Ralph.

But anyway, they could easily recast Ralph, I agree.
