Comics Red & blacks

It was red in black in the early issues, and was intended to be. But due to the nature of how black was depicted (with blue highlights) many people mistook it to just be shiny blue tights and eventually it became blue.

The same thing happened to Batman.
 
i would be okay with the switch over to red and black. maybe it would make people stop thinking Spider-Man is a knock-off of Superman.

Not to say I don't believe it's true, but I mean...weird. Very dissimilar characters.

Didn't spiderman have red and blue in his first appearance though?

They dissimilar characters, but they're supporting cast is, well, surprisingly similar.
