Decent, straight forward action flick. Nothing wrong with that. It's good fun.
Haha - The last two pages or so were a great read.
I'm really unsure how any of that passed right over my head since I was trying to get what they were saying due to having to pay attention to body language since very very little english was ever spoken and there were no subtitles to get that information from. It almost seems like subtitles may have been in there at one point and then were taken out or something.
I still haven't seen it yet. It's on my Netflix queue but not high in priority. Mostly I want to see how (poorly) it stacks up to the original. Not that the original made a whole lot of sense or explained how the Cuba/Russia/China alliance was able to pull it off but it was an enjoyable 80's hysteria action movie anyways.
The Soviets had to invade due to the failure of the Ukrainian wheat harvest, if I recall. It was obviously stretching suspension of disbelief, but it's not the most far out scenario. China was actually America's ally in the original movie, and the Soviets are stated to have used nuclear weapons to wipe out major cities.
This movie's premise just fails entirely. North Korea invading the United States sounds like the premise for a good South Park episode.
Even China invading the US right now, is fairly hard to take seriously. At least in the 80's, the US and the USSR really were on the verge of nuclear war.
Honestly, never said this about a movie, but it actually makes me angry that anyone would enjoy this movie. So if youve posted anything positive...know that I am angry with you!
I think it has a legit claim to the worst movie of all time..
