So, maybe a dumb question, is this a sandbox/free roam title like GTA?

I'm not all that into free-roam/sandbox stuff, especially not that huge. I'll probably pass on this one or pick it up later in that case. Don't know why, but I didn't think it was a big sandbox title for some reason until I clicked on that link and saw it referred to as an open world game.

the sandbox approach is why Im interested in this. I like random chaos and not necesarily doing missions. Like you I had no idea what type of title this was before coming to this board and asking

I'm the opposite. I tend to dislike these big huge maps like GTA and Fallout were you just wonder around all this space. I mean, there's stuff to do and all, but I get bored with it after awhile to be honest. If the main story ends up being really good, then I can probably stick around, but none of them tend to have great stories

Yea then this title might be too much for you. Rockstar has stated that they are trying to create one of their biggest and most realized worlds.

Yeah, which disappoints me, because I do want to try and knife and skin a bear. I'll probably wait it out, and see if people say the story is great, then maybe I'll buy it soon after release. If it's not, then I may still buy it on a sale or rent it to knife some bears.

^^ A bit off topic, buy how is Heavy Rain? I've heard good things about it.

I don't have a PS3 as I'm more of a 360 fan, and I wish the God of War series was made for 360, as I kinda wish the same for Heavy Rain, just because of what I've heard about it. I should check out some videos on YouTube on it.

Im incredibly biased when it comes to it. I think it is an amazing game and so far my favorite of the year. Its really not for everyone bc its so different and I understand that. Its described as an interactive drama. It has an immersive story and it utilizes QTE in a away that no other game has before. It does have its flaws as in subsequent playthroughs, you realize that you are limited in the choices you actually have. Overall I would say its a great game

the terrain of the game reminds me of San Andreas and I loved the environment in that. I know many didnt but I loved the open vast world and just traveling about.

I think the main problem with SA is that while huge it was so empty and lifeless. Obviously the tech has vastly improved since then, but this just looks so much better, and there seems to be things going on all over the place, which is great.

Saw the "Life in the West" trailer. This game looks jaw-droppingly beautiful. I can't wait to play it.

Yea the attention to detail is crazy good. Every weapon has its place, Marston isnt just pulling a gun out of no where, it actually has a holster. Love that stuff.

Really hope i can rock duel revolvers.

Yeah, I love how horses' tails twitch when they're trotting around. Even basic stuff like the way the light hits wrinkles on clothing looks picture-perfect. Really fantastic engine.

Best, most realistic looking horses ever!

Agreed, I felt San Andreas was too large for it's own good. A lot of areas were really uninteresting and not even worth checking out, you were better off hanging around Grove Street.

That trailer looked great though, looks like they're be plenty of random encounters to keep you busy. Can't wait to play it, went ahead and got my copy pre-ordered last week.

Haha, I had a friend who wasn't into video games a while back. When Half-Life 2 came out and I was admiring the graphics, he kept mocking me by going, "Duuuuuuuude, the water looks so real!"

But yeah, totally awesome-lookin' horses. :awesome:

Can't wait to save me some old ladies, OH YEAH!!! (insert kool aid man smiley here)

I need to watch that trailer again, I forgot all the awesome stuff that happened.:woot:

Its not the exact same people... I'm pretty sure the original game was started or halfway completed by another dev (I think they were Japanese, if that helps jog anyones memory) and Rockstar came in and finished it. This sequel is entirely done the Rockstar way, and is massively massively deeper.

That's true. The sequel looks to be far superior to the original which was decent. A new trailer came out yesterday and it talked about some of the game's features. I think gametrailers.com has it.
