My friends and I created a new free roam gametype called "Manhunt." It requires at least three players and should be played in a non-public free roam server, and no posse's. The gametype is basically how it sounds, you are hunting your friend(s) but with a few interesting twists and tweaks. There are three roles players can take: The Hunter, Hunting Dog, and Prey. Each role has a specific loadout with their weapons and abilities. The Hunter has no HUD mini-map, and must do everything by line of sight. Expert targeting mode is on so he can't lock onto targets, and titles that appear above enemies heads are turned off. He can only use two weapons, the Springfield Rifle and Pump-action Shotgun. The Hunting Dog was created to help the Hunter track the Prey. The Dog is armed with the Bowie Knife and Throwing Knifes. The Hunting Dog's HUD mini-map is turned on, normal targeting is selected, but may not use the full map from the start menu. Lastly, the Prey, armed with only Cattleman Revolver, Throwing Knifes, and Bowie Knife. The Prey's HUD mini-map is turned on, normal targeting is on, and they may use the full map from the start menu.
As far as gameplay guidelines, The Hunter(s) work with their Hunting Dog(s) as they track and kill the elusive Prey through woodland areas. Everyone is on foot for the hunt, so no horses. Everyone can be killed by local wildlife when they are in their areas. The Hunter and Hunting Dog are at their strongest when attacking together, but rather at a disadvantage when separated. It is vital for both the Hunter and Hunting Dog to communicate and coordinate when stalking the Prey. The Prey can use the terrain, their minimap/weapons, environmental hazards such as animals to their advantage, but are mostly hiding and evading. They use their weapons mostly for defense but can also attack the Hunting Dog, or Hunter, when they are separated. Even though the Hunter and Dog are strongest together, both can be killed when closing in on the Prey.
The only thing we haven't worked out was how to keep a score, other than the actual score the game gives you. I suppose there could be a switch of roles when an amount of kills are reached. Another interesting problem is whether or not to hunt in populated areas or keep it in wilderness. The Prey can use the man made structures and civilians for some cover, but these areas are more wide open than a dense forrest. Forrests are great for hiding and ambushing, but have dangerous uneven terrain and vicious animals. If the Prey kills the Hunter or Hunting Dog enough times, he will have a most wanted level and marshals will join the hunt, leading the Hunter to the Prey. I called them my hunting party. Also, The Prey can give their position away when using their pistol with the trace of the bullets, flashes from the muzzle, smoke from the muzzle, and the noise; so using bladed weaponry on a lone Hunter is a good alternative. Have fun with this game type if you plan to use it.
