Red Sparrow (Jennifer Lawrence)

The film is Rated R for strong violence, torture, sexual content, language and some graphic nudity.

again an over-sexulized female agent movie? ohhh she uses sex ? I understand that they are only producing this kind of movies because they think thats the only way to get men to watch it. but come on its 2017.

That's because sex is a logical, pragmatic way to put a man in a vulnerable position. We all know most men would succumb to a guy like Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize, whoever

It's realistic. Even the most disciplined of men can be compromised by a smoking hot woman with next level sex appeal.

It's not just to get men to watch, it's a legit tactic for female spies, especially hot ones, to use their v@gina to get information. But also, femme fatales have been around forever because they're compelling in a narrative sense.

Yea there's nothing unrealistic about spy organizations using sexy women to get close to targets, that's not breaking news....

Especially the Rooskies. They were notorious for that in the 20th century, kind of their whole thing.

Pick a shy dweeby insecure guy with access to important info, get him laid, manipulate the crap out of him. Weak links, sex, results.

I'm pretty sure "killing him if needed" will also play into it as well.

So, how many secrets did you end up revealing?

The honeytrap is one of the oldest and most succesful cons there is, used in multiple situations but certainly prevelant in the world of politics and espionage, the key for this movie will be how interesting is Lawrence character and her journey.

And also how the "honey trap" stuff is implemented/integrated into the narrative as well.

Yes, how it effects her is surely something the movie should explore, we haven't really seen a that in a spy movie before that I can think of, we just see the glamour of the trap and then the aftermath of the guy trapped, we've not seen the pyschological or emotional toll it takes on the female agent used as the trap.

I now look forward to this even more :woot:

as much as jen going nude in the sex scenes would be exciting:ilv: i would also be intrigued is her character as part of her seduction ends up being like a dominatrix.

this is very intresting role for her to do and for us to see:ilv:

@AlannaBennett

I saw Red Sparrow today, and 1) wow that Jennifer Lawrence sure does not go for chill movies. 2) I was warned how brutal it was going in but I didn't expect so much of it to be trafficking and sexual assault!

BTDubz, here's how Red Sparrow got an 'R' rating https://www.alberta.ca/search-movie-ratings.aspx?fid=20351

  1. Frequent use of the sexual expletive, some in a sexual context; infrequent use of scatological slang, profanity, vulgar expressions, and sexual slurs
  2. Frequent portrayals of gun, weapons, and hand-to-hand violence, some in a torture context – blood and detail
  3. Frequent portrayals of sexual violence – breast and buttock nudity, some blood and detail
  4. Frequent portrayals of sexual activity, some in a BDSM context – breast and buttock nudity, some detail
  5. Infrequent breast and male frontal nudity in a non-sexual context
  6. Frequent portrayals of alcohol and tobacco use in a recreational context

Breast and buttock nudity.

I think they could have come up with a better name, Red Sparrow sounds like a Black Widow villain from the 70s

It is the name of the book from which this story is adapted.

To be fair, doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be the movie title. For example, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep when adapted was Blade Runner.
