Unlike many others, I believe that filming will start ASAP for Nolan and crew. If anyone in here has ever been a part of a crew, they know that once you're done filming one production you're eagerly ready to keep working. In this case the same crew from INCEPTION, I was told a while ago, will be working on Nolan's next project. Now given that I heard this information a few months ago, I'm sure that now with the recent news about 3atman more info will be released very soon pertaining to the time frame of the release date for 3atman.
They're not going to film this year. Bale is making the Malick movie in the fall and will probably continue working on it until early 2011. The earliest they'll starting shooting a new Batman movie is next Spring.
2012 is too far...
Batman 3 in 2011!
I had a post here somewhere about this very same thing but since we this is the official thread discussing the release date....
I think that the earliest we'll see Batman 3 will be in summer of 2012.
If the rumors are true , the script is either almost finished or it's being written as we speak. Either way filming will probably begin next yeat for a July 2012 release date ? Why July. Well July has proven to be a very profitale month for WB . 2007 HP5 , 2008 TDK , 2009 HP6. Their highest grossing movies were released in July of those years . And the final potter movie will be released July of 2011 ( and inception in july of this year). That leaves the July 2012 slot empty.
While a valid point has been made about the november/dec. months , i think that WB has reserved dec. of 2012 and dec. 2013 for the Hobbit movies. Originally the first Hobbit movie was going to be released in dec 2011 but with the delay , WB rushed to get their biggest success of dec 2009 a sequel. And that was Sherlock Holmes. WB will release the sequel in dec. 2011
As for the Hobbit movies , considering that all 3 LOTR movies were hugely succesful during the december months , WB will want to stick to those dates. Why experiment when a franchise has proven to make serious millions on specific dates.
So don't count the winter months of 2011 , 2012 and 2013 for Bats.
Also with the news that WB was going forward with the next superman movies , there may be a small chance that WB would have the next superman movie in summer of 2012 and Batman 3 in summer in 2013.
As many of you may or may not know , the rights of superman ( exactly how many i don't know) revert back to the heirs of the creators of superman. I've read the the rights will revert back in oct of 2013 so that does give WB the chance to make at least one superman movie and also give them enough time ( 3 years) to work on the superman movie.
Although ( hence my small chance comment) WB would release the next superman movie in summer of 2012 because they want to avoid 2013 entirely. Which would technically have to mean that WB would
1 have a script ready ( this year)
2 have a cast & crew ready ( the leads & director for this year)
3 start shooting either this year or next year
Again if you read the above it definately looks like there is virtually no chance but who knows just what really is happening behind-the-scenes.
Also i forgot about 1 thing.
The next spider-man movie is going to be released July 2012 in 3-d. Spider-man 4 is in active development so chances are that they'll also secure the IMAX theaters. I wonder if WB and Nolan will allow Batman 3 to go into direct competition with Spider-man 4.
to that. As far as SM4, I think it will be geared to a much younger audience than Batman, young teens and such, and it will make most of its money the first ten days or so. So I don't think the legs will allow it to compete once BB3 rolls around. By then, the 3-D may be wearing thin on people, though that remains to be seen. I think we will see a similar affect with TF3 and HP8 in 2011, where I firmly believe TF3 will run dry once Potter and Cap come out. Spidey won't be an issue for WB. Batman will be an issue for Sony. Not to mention following The Avengers^ Really! Please never use "3atman" again.
Please never use "3atman" again.
Personally I like 3atman. That's why I often use it. If you don't like it, don't read it. If it bothers you then must have some personal issues for something that menial to negatively effect you.
I would be disappointed and very worried if the film was released in 2011. I mean I guess I could see a 2011 Winter release, but I'm pretty sure the Summer would be the best target for WB to make a killing in the box office.
I just made a post over at the Hobbit thread and there was an interesting news topic by IESB.net about Hobbit being delayed again.
This actually had got me thinking about WB & Nolan maybe considering to release Batman 3 in december of 2012 if Hobbit is delayed again.
Like i said in my earlier post , WB usually sticks with dates that have worked for them. SOmetimes they will experiment to see if other dates work out for them. July of '07 was when they released Harry Potter and the Order Of The Phoenix which led to over 900 million WW. That was followed with TDK in '08 , Potter again in '09 , Inception of '10 and Potter in '11.
If it worked for Potter , why wouldn't WB release batman 3 in July of '12.
Well i think that Spider-man 4 might prove to be the big hurdle. Batman fans might think that studios aren't worried when they have competiting movies being released close to each other , but they are.
SPider-man has already booked the July '12 release date and it will be shown in 3-d. Spider-man 4 is far further in production then batman 3 so i assume that Sony might negotiate a deal with IMAX to allow Spider-man 4 to play in IMAX theaters for a long period .
While TDK performed extremely well , a good part of it's BO performance can also be credited to little competition. THere have been some crowd pleasers released during TDK's run but nothing as big as say SPider-man or TF.
It's still a question of Nolan would opt to release Batman 3 in 3-d . He has softened his opinion on 3-d but for now i think we can say that there probably won't be a 3-d release of Batman 3.
So will WB risk competing with Spider-man 4 ?
That leaves us with the question ? If Batman 3 won't be released in 2012 , which date would WB consider ?
I think that date would be december 2012.
If Hobbit is delayed that leaves them with a huge slot to fill. Sherlock Holmes proved to WB that december is a certainly a profitable month. So much so that WB has fastracked the Sherlock Holmes sequel for dec 2011 release. Ironically also because Hobbit was initially going to be released in dec of 2011 but when the problems at MGM started they saw that they wouldn't be able to meet that date.
There isn't much competition going on during that period. And it also gives WB the oppurtinuty for Batman 3 to getsome serious Oscar nominations /wins
At this point nothing is certain because the studio that owns the (distrubition) rights of Hobbit ( MGM) is being auctioned off due to huge debts. WB has made a bid to buy the entire studio but is low ( sligtly more then a billion) compared to the debt ( 3.7 billion). So everyone at MGM is still evaluating their options. Sell the entire studio , sell the rights to other movie studios ( WB getting Hobbit , Sony getting Bond etc) or delay the sale again.
But this is a thing to be considered.
Personally I like 3atman. That's why I often use it. If you don't like it, don't read it. If it bothers you then must have some personal issues for something that menial to negatively effect you.

I have no personal issues, I'm very happy and "3atman" makes no sense and looks stupid. I too read it as "Thratman". Just write Batman 3 and stop trying to be cute!![]()
I am down with a winter release... take a Q from Avatars success. 2012 will be more stacked than 2011 in terms of brand name CB movies. WB may as well get out so the box office doesn't bloat itself with CB movies over a small window. It depends on Hobbit. I don't believe Nolan will need extra time to make the film. All depends on how WB wants to position it.
