Remakes that will make you freak out?

Terminator
Star Wars
Jurassic Park
The Matrix
Die Hard
Shane

Jurassic Park and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

I don't see a Lord of the Rings trilogy remake happening for.. um.. 50 years..?

They're actually in the process of remaking Footloose. Seriously. FOOTLOOSE.

I don't have any particular affinity for this movie, I'm just floored by the fact that Hollywood is so out of ideas that they have to remake something like this. Apparently they're trying to get Zac Efron to play the lead, as I believe it's going to have singing as well as dancing.

When will it stop? Seriously? I'm not opposed to remakes, if there's some potential there to do something really new and cool. There are plenty of franchises that could use a reboot that I'm excited to see... Star Trek is shaping up to look really cool, and I'm all for the A-Team remake (but happy to hear that Singleton is off the project because he's a hack).

But Footloose? Really? Do we really need to see ANOTHER movie about a kid from Chicago who "liberates" a town with his dance moves? I know I sure as hell don't.

HOnestly, the Footloose remake is a real head scratcher..

I like the idea of some remakes but there are films that are based on performances that i don't think could be redone. A remake should only be done if necessary or there is a really good idea behind it. There really isn't any need for classics like The Godfather , Taxi Driver , or The Shining to be redone.

I MEAN, in theory, a remake of..Taxi Driver by David Fincher would be interesting.

However, just because we CAN do it, doesn't mean that we SHOULD do it, you know?

It's like remaking the Mona Lisa and making it 'better'. Movies, like paintings, are a work of art AND history. If we keep remaking movies, then it's like Hollywood disregarding their legacy..

-Star Wars
-Predator
-The Godfather
-Alien

I will kill someone if Alien ever gets remade!

American Psycho.
Memento.
Another King Kong. You know they will.
Jurassic Park. You know they will.
Star Wars OT.
Rosemary's Baby, I am sure they will do that.
Carlito's Way.
Heat.

More Godzilla

i don't think that'd freak me out . . . just very depressing and sign of apocolypse

Am I one here who would actually be really interested in a Wizard of Oz remake?
Don't get me wrong, I love the original film however its different from the book and it would be really cool to see where they'd go with it. Of course I'd want an AMAZING director attatched though because it is a beloved film.

Secondly, WeaponXProject, I HIGHLY doubt they'll be remaking King Kong anytime soon. King Kong 2005 (which I actually approved of and think its a great film) was somewhat of a dissappointment, I remember studios were predicting Titanic sized numbers. Although it did good worldwide, 500+ million I beleive, it didn't do as good domestically...it hardly touched the 200 million mark
However Jurassic Park remake is inevitable unfortunately.

My list (I'm only listing films that I think have a HIGH possibility of being remade in the future):

- Psycho (They'll do another one.)
- 2001: A space Odessey
- Sunset Blvd
- Alien
- The Silence of the Lambs (I have a feeling deep down this will get a remake in a few years.ugh)
- Terminator (honestly wouldn't care if it were being remade had T2 not existed)
- Jaws
- Star Wars the original trilogy (This will happen in my lifetime too...mark.my.words)
- Jurassic Park
- The Lord of the Rings trilogy (same as star wars. Its just too popular and successful...greedy studios will try to strike gold twice.)
- The Matrix

By the way, they REALLY are doing a remake to Rosemary's Baby, huh?...wow, I can't say I'm freaking out because I just thought the film was okay (not as good as everyone says) but really unnecessary remake...because when I was watching it I was thinking 'this filmmaker was ahead of his time because the film holds up REALLY good for a 60's film)

Also they have a The day the Earth stood still remake. Now I WAS open to this remake (and TDTESS is one of my FAVORITE films of all time) however they have really screwed up their opprotunity to make something amazing, the film looks bad.

isn't the wizard of oz already being remade really dark with todd mcfarlane's re-designs?

Some of those re-designs were really cool. Granted I'm not a fan of the original movie though, and yet I thought Wicked was excellent.

That was announced earlier this year. I literally screamed "NOOOO!" at my computer screen when I read the news. :(

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget that King Kong gets remade every 30 years so I will be 50 something when they do it. I didn't say soon, Sent X.

Your list has some of my favorite movies. I hope they don't get touched but you are probably right they will redo them eventually.

The Dark Knight needs to be remade... NOW!!! ;) :D

Jaws is based on a book so they could do a new version that isn't a remake of the movie and have it be as good as that one.

Yes, and The Godfather and Gone with the Wind are also based on books, as Butch Cassidy is based on a true story, if incredibly rewritten. The thing is these movies based on them are so great (and in most cases even surpassing the book) that to revisit them is a travesty.

I think I'll add LA Confidential to that list by the way.

I don´t have a problem with Remakes.......if the Remake sucks then you still have the Original.

meh.....it wouldnt work no matter who was directing it. It was a product of the times. The whole "America lost innocence." The white picket fence American dream was fading and a strong part of Bickles psychological journey.

Also: Rocky. Don't mess with Rocko...

I remember the Wizard of Oz remake thread here... I remember that got me confused with the Alice in Wonderland movie... I got things a little mixed up :)

Here's my list:

-Gone With the Wind
-Jaws
-The Godfather
-Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
-Psycho (it should have NEVER been remade :csad:)
-Apocolypse Now
-Taxi Driver
-Casabalanca
-Terminator
-Star Wars (none of them!)
-A Clockwork Orange
-2001: A Space Odyssey
-Rocky
-My Fair Lady
-Mary Poppins
-Ben-Hur
-The Sound of Music
-The Shining
-Raiders of the Lost Ark (actually none of the Indy movies should be touched!)
-It's a Wonderful Life
-Jurassic Park
- Alien
- Silence of the Lambs
- Die Hard
- The Matrix trilogy
- LOTR trilogy
