Remakes that will make you freak out?

meh.....it wouldnt work no matter who was directing it. It was a product of the times. The whole "America lost innocence." The white picket fence American dream was fading and a strong part of Bickles psychological journey.

I agree. Like the Original "day the earth stood still" was too a product of its time, and honestly, though the remakes looks okay, I think they're missing the point..

The remake looks terrible. I saw the preview and as soon as I heard Keanu Reeves in the trailer me and like 10 other people started laughing. Keanu blows.

First time they can make good use of motionless, soulless Keanu Reeves. Ever.

Escape from New York.

DON'T ****ING TOUCH IT :cmad:

I know there were a few rumblings about a remake in the works starring Gerad Butler but I think it's since been dropped.

I would be terribly sad if anyone touched one of Tim Burton's movies--but that's just because he's my favorite director. At any rate, I've heard people mention, in passing, that it'd be great if they re-did "Edward Scissorhands" and gave it a happy ending. And this, causes me to shake my head no and no and no. Figure the ending is already happy, and perfect, the way I see it.

I would also be against a remake of "To Kill a Mockingbird". And I was very much against them remaking "House of Wax"--but too late and too late for that.

OMG......The Warriors

PLEASE........NO.......Dont do it

John Woo. don't even remake him let alone his films!

Please!!!!! Please!!!!!! PLEASE tell me this isn't true, I was watching Enter The Dragon on G4, and after the movie, Kevin Periera mentioned that there was a remake in the works titled "Awakened Dragon" or something to the extent. I seriously hope they do not remake Enter The Dragon, cult classic epic kung fu movie, no need to remake it.

it would be insulting to Bruce Lee. and you don't want the ghost of bruce to haunt you.

well, I just found out will smith wants to remake the karate kid, so his son can star in it. big mistake willie son.

Pretty much every movie I wouldn't want to see remade has been mentioned here. I might give a remake of a movie a try, but even going in with expectations low I'm usually very disappointed. Halloween, The Haunting, The House On Haunted Hill, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hitcher, Psycho... all HUGE disappointments. The only remake I'd ever seen that was ever worth a damn was The Thing, John Carpenter's remake Of The Thing From Outer Space. The remake of Invasion Of The Body Snatcher with Jeff Goldbloom, Donald Sutherland, and Leonard Nemoy was pretty good too. All other remakes of IOTBS (Body Snatchers, The Invasion, etc) were crap. There was a made for TV remake of The Stepford Wives that was pretty good as well, but the one with Matthew Broderick was absolute crap.

I believe one of the reasons they continue to do these unnecessary remakes is cause they know there are people that actually watch them. I know this because I've worked at a video store for years, and people just grab the remakes off the shelf. And I've seen enough of these customers sense what's running through their heads of why they would watch these blasphemy remakes. They watch them because they are either: Dispassionate enough to not care; or because they are clueless; or mostly...it's because they are bored. I also ushered at a movie theater for years, and theater customers are no different from video store customers.

I remember I was at a Best Buy. Some fool picked up the remake of "The Omen" and then he glanced over to see the original version on the shelf. "I didn't know it was a remake", he said.

I also remember a lady at my job talking about how she lets her kids watch 'Charlie and Chocolate Factory' on a regular basis. Ummm...what about the original one (and the better version)?

Jaws is based on a book so they could do a new version that isn't a remake of the movie and have it be as good as that one.

Eh, somehow I doubt it would work that well. Benchley's original novel is great for the way he describes the shark attacks and the marine aspect, but outside of the Hooper/Ellen subplot and Vaughn's real motives for keeping the beaches open - both of which are pretty trod out by now, even in other shark flicks - there isn't enough substance in the book to get enough distance from the original film, IMO.

As for everyone's fear of the original SW trilogy getting remade...well, Lucas himself is already in the process of doing that with his "Special Editions" to make them 'match up' with his beloved prequels.

None of Bruce Lee's movie should never be remade. And for the hell of it, they should leave Karate Kid alone too

Grease
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (If MTV touches it....)
Anything Hitchcock
Trading Places (There going to some variation of it in the near future, I'm sure....)
Any Brat Pack films

isn't the wizard of oz already being remade really dark with todd mcfarlane's re-designs?

That Oz wasn't going to be quite as dark as McFarlane's toy Oz line, which featured such gems as "Bondage fun Dorthy!" and zombie Scarecrow. I think he described it as an adventure with film with Dorthy being a Ripley-type heroine.

Here's my list:

-Gone With the Wind
-Jaws
-The Godfather
-Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
-Psycho (it should have NEVER been remade :csad:)
-Apocolypse Now
-Taxi Driver
-Casabalanca
-Terminator
-Star Wars (none of them!)
-A Clockwork Orange
-2001: A Space Odyssey
-Rocky
-My Fair Lady
-Mary Poppins

-Ben-Hur
-The Sound of Music
-The Shining
-Raiders of the Lost Ark (actually none of the Indy movies should be touched!)
-It's a Wonderful Life
-Jurassic Park
- Alien
- Silence of the Lambs
- Die Hard
- The Matrix trilogy
- LOTR trilogy

I know in my bones I will see remakes of those two in my lifetime. I wouldn't be entirely opposed either. I'd love to see Pygmalion on screen and not as a musical.

One I'm really suprised they haven't touched is Breakfast at Tiffany's. It could really easily be re-made for the 21st century. In fact so many shows and movies already owe thier legacy and make homages to it.

Breakfast at Tiffany's was (and is) a fantastic movie. Don't touch Audrey Hupburn because my GOD, she was beautiful.

Also, she had a warm relationshiop with Tiffany's and I doubt that they want to taint her legacy with a remake.

I wouldn't want to see Terminator remade either, I have a gut feeling that if they did remake it, it would be way more CGI. I wouldnt mind if they re-released the original and modified some of the effects a la Star Wars
