Remakes that wouldn't drive you crazy!

How about Killer Klowns form Outer Space?

Best reccomendation in this thread! Besides mine....Altered States. Seriously if they remade it today it could be totally amazing visually especially with the right director

Wizard of Oz (closer to book) <Exactly what I want
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (I like the addition of Tom Sawyer...but didn't like the story or the CGI)
The Adventures in Babysitting
X-men franchise
Jason and the Argonauts
Clash of the Titans (It's a happening, I believe)
Metropolis (though i believe it's getting one)
Lost in Space (I have an Idea for a television remake, if you wanna hear it)
Bewitched (tv show accurate please)
Grease (technically i wouldn't want a remake.. but a movie based on it set in modern day, lance bass mentioned at one time wanting to do one with pop singers and songs which could possibly be kinda cool) < OH! It does!
The Great Gatsby
Tarzan

i'd also love for some animated films to be turned into live action... disney did a great job with 101 dalmations i think... so heres a few live action flicks i think disney could do very well with, even with some do better then there 2D films

-Treasure Planet
-Atlantis
-Sleeping Beauty (would love to see it live action)
-Lady and the Tramp
-Snow White
-Oliver in Company
-The Rescuers
-The Black Cauldron
-Bambi (it'd be pretty hard to do, but if done well i think it could be great)
-Alice in Wonderland (glad to see diz and tim burton will be doing this one)
-The little mermaid (near impossible to do with technology today, but i'd love to see it eventually)
-Beauty and the Beast
-Aladdin

Out of the list of Disney stuff... I think The Black Cauldron would benefit the most from it.

agrees.. it was a book as well so there's alot they could go on. But i think alot as well could still work very well in live action

I Am Legend

They got it wrong AGAIN! I didnt mind the cosmetic changes (NY, action oriented elements, the vamp design, the dog) but they could have done with less CGI and closer to the plot (the hunting during the day, Nevilles buddy as a vamp, the book's girl who leads the vamps to Neville, the book ending)

Right?
There was nothing about the book that couldn't be adapted to film as far as complexity or anything.

Dick Tracy
Red Dawn (for alternative history genre)
Superman
Lost in Space
Planet of the Apes
War of the Worlds (2005 sucked)
Daredevil
Fantastic Four

..but this time, make it Planet of the Humans. No, wait

Here is just a list of some random thoughts. Some of them would be quite hard to do good remakes of simply because the original was so good, or they would be out of context today, but it would at least be interesting to see other people try their hand at any of these. Keep in mind a good number of them come from a source material that existed previous to the original film as well and would probably be better coined "alternative adaptations".

Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
The Island of Doctor Moreau
Godzilla
Zorba the Greek
Airport
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Atilla the Hun
Nosferatu
Popeye
King Solomon's Mines
Some Like it Hot
Das Boot
The Evil Dead
Zulu
Gilgamesh
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
The French Connection
THX 1138
The Wicker Man

I disagree about the Evil Dead, French Connection, and Close Encounters.

However, I do agree on Popeye and the Island of Doctor Moreau.

I'd want Sam Raimi at the helm for a new Evil Dead for sure. I mostly just want to see what he could do with a bigger budget on a really gory horror film.

I can understand disagreeing about the other two. Even for those, I think at least ten more years redoing it should be considered.

As much as the originals had going for them...Harrison Ford James Earl Jones etc.... i think someone should go back and PROPERLY remake the entire Jack Ryan series of Tom Clancy books. (As fun as SOAF was.... it barely followed the book....)

For me Harrison Ford IS Jack Ryan..... but he can only really do 'Debt of Honor' 'Executive Decision' and The Bear and the Dragon' IMHO.

Dunno who'd be good as Ryan tho.....

the neverending story. I'd like a version much closer to the book.

The Canada tv series was even further :(

Bingo, that was the most disappointing adaption I've seen. Stick with the vampires being able to talk and not looking all the same. Get an actor who won't play himself in a movie. Don't modernize it or put it in the near future. Definitely have the dog plot from the book and definitely have the girl trick Neville. With the exact book ending so the TITLE MAKES F***ING SENSE!!!!!!:cmad:

agrees thus why i hated the movie. So far i personally think the Vincent Price movie was the closest adaptation.

Quantum of Solace. Bring Martin Campbell back...:waa:

I might get killed but I'd love to see another da vinci code movie.....I know there's a way to make the book a decent adventure/action movie, not the slow flick we already got !

Yeah, I want a live action Beowulf and not that Zemeckis crap we got.

I didn't like Da Vinci Code besides Paul Bettany and Ian MacKellan's performance.

No remake though. It's dead. Waiting for Angels and Demons now.

in fatc it wouldn't be a remake more of a totally new adaptation of the book !

GI Joe.

JHust because I know the new film is going to suck.
=P

I kinda want them to remake "game of death" the way bruce lee intended it. I mean, sure it won't be the same w/o him, but still.
