Hate-monger would suggest that I hate Kurds, I'm just smart enough to know that it's not America's job to be the god damn world police.

Indeed. But this wasn't an isolated incident, he holocausted hundreds of thousands of Kurds.

Saddam wasn't Muslim, if you watched something about Saddam other than Fox news you'd learn that he'd dress and act differently around different ethnic groups to appeal to them.
I'm gonna need some evidence...

Free-thinkers? Is that what you call all those nut jobs that want to establish a religious monarchy?
No, thats what I call those nut jobs who didn't like ethnic cleansing and chemical slaughtering who were tortured to death.

You know who captured Saddam? Us.

But he was convicted, sentenced to death and hanged by an Iraqi court.

Yes, your coke theft story is far more powerful a subject. Let's dwell on that.

I'm not offended by you and your indifference. You are probably too young to be affected by anything outside of your scope of sight...that's why I called you ignorant.

Yeah, great ammo, bud.

You'll find that many people far older than I am feel this way as well. I'll be affected by something that, I dunno, affects me. And, don't get me wrong. I WAS affected by 9/11. SIX. YEARS. AGO. Almost seven, really.
But, I've moved on. It's just so much propaganda and media-induced mourning, really.

He suddenly became very Muslim during the Persian Gulf war when he needed the backing of other Muslim nations. He was seen in many news clips praying in mosques with other Muslims. Which had never been seen before that time.

He also promoted women's literacy and education in the 1970's. By his nature he was rather secular but he knew he couldn't gain support if he didn't appeal to the Islamic fundies.

You'll also find many people far older than you doing things that you don't...I'm talking about you.

More power to you though for 'moving on'. That short attention span is a blessing sometimes, no? Let's hear some more real drama about your local sex offenders...because that's much more important.

That affects me or my country how?

I'm gonna need some evidence...

"Saddam saw himself as a social revolutionary and a modernizer, following the Nasser model. To the consternation of Islamic conservatives, his government gave women added freedoms and offered them high-level government and industry jobs. Saddam also created a Western-style legal system, making Iraq the only country in the Persian Gulf region not ruled according to traditional Islamic law (Sharia). Saddam abolished the Sharia law courts, except for personal injury claims.

As a sign of his consolidation of power, Saddam's personality cult pervaded Iraqi society. Thousands of portraits, posters, statues and murals were erected in his honor all over Iraq. His face could be seen on the sides of office buildings, schools, airports, and shops, as well as on Iraqi currency. Saddam's personality cult reflected his efforts to appeal to the various elements in Iraqi society. He appeared in the costumes of the Bedouin, the traditional clothes of the Iraqi peasant (which he essentially wore during his childhood), and even Kurdish clothing, but also appeared in Western suits, projecting the image of an urbane and modern leader. Sometimes he would also be portrayed as a devout Muslim, wearing full headdress and robe, praying toward Mecca."

He also has a taste for fine wine, alcohol is forbidden by Islam.

No, thats what I call those nut jobs who didn't like ethnic cleansing and chemical slaughtering who were tortured to death.

Again, how is this any of our business?

But he was convicted, sentenced to death and hanged by an Iraqi court.

We were Iraq's lackey.

I would like some links instead of just copy-paste stuff. And please note the article never says he wasn't muslim. After all, whats his name famous preacher dude was buying meth from his gay ****e. Sounds real christian to me. Different sects of faith can have different interpretations and rules.

Yeah, and Hitler was the leader that pushed forward the idea of the VW Bug that helped to strengthen the German government in later years.

Both he and Sadaam used genocide to rid their country of an unwanted group of people.

Look, I don't think we should have gone into Iraq, and I want our troops home.....NOW. But I believe that Sadaam did what he did, it is fact, proven, judged in a court of law, and the sentence was death. (not saying you think otherwise) But he deserved what he got, and actually it could have been alittle more painful IMHO.

So I also guess that Hitler's holocaust "affected your country how?"

Dude, what is it with you?

Did you lose someone in the attacks? Is that it? I'm just wondering, because I've never seen an average poster so adamant about this, other than Cellslim (who's the same about a lot of other stuff too, so...)

Not home, in a different location. If we had put the same effort in Afghanistan this "war on terror" would be over by now. We're wasting our time playing the moral police when we've got the people who caused 9/11 still out there.

Nazi Germany was expansionist and would have consumed the entire world if he we hadn't stepped in. Comparing a washed up third world dictator to Hitler is ******ed.

Whether it affects my country or not, doesn't make it right.

Apparently you didn't read the rest of my post.

I do not believe we should have gone into Iraq. I don't want us their now.

Doesn't change the way I feel about what Sadaam did to the Kurds.

You don't need to lose someone to feel strongly about this. :down

Yes, we should be going after bin Laden better. But if we invaded Pakistan, where he actually is, you would be all up in arms about that. Again, this isnt a war on bin Laden.

I agree with you on that. I don't think the "war on terror" would be over by now, but I certainly think that OBL would be dead by now.

If we went after Bin Laden, I'd say "Great! It's about time we went after that bastard"

The war on terror is never going to end. Ever. Its nobody's fault, there just will always be terrorists.

there are so many co-conspiritors to 9-11 we will never catch all of them .

Ah, but that would explain his stance on the issue, so adamant is he, wouldn't it?

Damn.

I'm saying he (or anyone else) doesn't need to have that kind of personal tragedy occur to be strongly affected by 911.

You consider your indifference to Americans getting murdered on US soil and people trying to keep their memory alive...normal??
