Remembering 911

Well, you're saying the same crap over and over, as is Superhobo. Kinda ironic you mentioning "witty banter"

'Seems like the concept of a discussion is a bit too complicated for some to understand.

You DON'T have an opinion on the matter...that's what it really boils down to. You have stated that you do not care...how is that having an opinion? You sit there all safe in front of your computer and can say, "I've moved on from 9/11...it was 6 years ago and it had nothing to do with me"...great sense of belonging. But hey, have your 'opinion'...as unattached as it may be.

And you're doing...what, right now, except sitting there all safe in front of the computer, arguing with me. Yes, I have an opinion. That opinion is, I don't care, if you do, okay. I think that the way that 9/11 is used now is in fact senseless propaganda. Sue me.

This is an opinion. Like it or not.

i will say that i was in the army and i got out (ets) . anyway i still get letters asking me to come back. in every letter there is a statement that says.
let us not forget 911. that is propaganda used to guilt me into reenlisting.
so yeah i feel the same way superhobo does.

Yes, it was a loss. Yes, it was a tragedy. Yes, it was second only to Pearl Harbor of the amount of lives lost on US soil (because those are the only ones, but still). But, I can't say I make a huge show of remembrance and such.

Why?

Because I have nothing to do with it.

This is not me saying that I don't care. Hell, I think if I did make a huge show of it, it would mean that I didn't care. Me, a person who knew none of those that died that day, waving a bunch of flags around and crying, to me, would only be a fallacy and a slap in the face to those who actually did know people that died that day.

Besides, it's not like you can FORGET 9/11--everything that we as a country have been doing for the past 6 years, good or bad, was because of this.

So, if your workplace wants to do a moment of silence or you want to hang up a flag on the wall outside your house, fine. Just please, for the love of God, don't make it an all-day event on CNN and have a bunch of weepy people shrilling how "we'll never forget." No, we won't, but there's a difference between never forgetting and never moving on.

I am closing this. If someone wants to try again, then make no bones about it. It will be strictly monitored and the first person to INSULT, NAME CALL or otherwise denigrate someone else's opinion in what I deem a troll-like manner will be given a week off, and I don't have the patience of TheAlbaFan by a longshot.
