If you could write either a script or a book for Resident Evil how would it go?

Would you opt for the all action style of the current (disgraceful) films or would you pen it out like the games with the mystery, puzzle and shear fear instilled by the games?

Im interested to see what people would like to see or read....

My idea:

1917. Europe is at war. Hell has taken on a new form. It's called the trench and it has claimed the lives of many men, death by bullets, bayonets, fire and gas. Klaus Hartmann, is a combat engineer attached to 11th Sturmbattalione serving on the Eastern Front when a letter from German High Command sends him and his unit to a remote village deep in Romanian territory where contact has been lost with a German regiment led by Baron Hermann von Kleist.

Ambushed by an unseen enemy, Hartmann survives, only to find the village littered with dead Germans and Romanians. Now Hartmann must fight his way out of the beginning of the nightmare we all know as: Resident Evil.

The story can serve as an ultimate prequel, the quality of weapons can challenge the player and the "Hell within Hell" settings may appeal to players. The trench would really look good rendered in next gen graphics

Weapons:
- Luger P08 (Basic weapon)
-Gewehr 98 (with bayonet for special close combat)
-Mauser C96 (stopping power handgun)
-Nagant M1895 (Revolver)
-MP 18 (Machine pistol)
-STICK GRENADES!!!!!!!

My "plan" was to create a believable use for the viruses that these guys created. It all had to start somewhere so I was thinking maybe some German general wanted to create sometime that would keep his men alive in the harshness of the trench so he heads to Romania with a Bacteriologist named Dr.Brand to some village where the people don't seem to get sick at don't age as much as normal people do.

You know, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions and all that so something goes horribly wrong (as usual) and now Klaus has to fight his way out of the village which is infected with this "proto-virus" while Von Kleist, now mad with the infection is planning on spreading the stuff throughout the Eastern Front under the guise of "small pox" vaccine. You can say this is where Ozwell and the other Umbrella guys get their idea for the virus.

sweet....i take it youve thought about this alot?

i had a similar idea in relation to the whole virus starting somewhere but i had it starting at the mansion with a wealthy mansion owner creating it for his ill wife.....at first he created a syrum to reanimate the white blood cells in her blood to help counter her illness but the syrum adapted itself to her DNA and reanimated any dying red cells too bringing her back to life....and whilst her husband knows whats happening one of his maids gets bitten and he quarantines her and whilst hes distracted with this one maid another gets a discreet bite on the neck and she doesnt make it known and thats how it breaks out....ive started writing a book for it....the first chapter is done....its like a brief outline to this story and then the second chapter skips to the early 80's before Umbrella get wind of it and its about how the virus spreads around the mansion and how Racoon City grows around this knowledge....then Stars comes into it....

Hmm...maybe if you could set a certain timeline which gives you more independence or a location where you can do anything. Have you ever read 30 Days of Night?

i havent actually....i do have time scales and locations planned just not wanting to add too much detail to it when its in the outline stages

Do much RE fanfics? I prefer to go for original characters and writing and working with stuff I'm familiar with. I'm a self-taught student of WW1 history so I try to incorporate as much of it into my writing.

Your story has a bit of a vampire feel to it. If you like that stuff you should try to incorporate as much of it into your story as possible.

ive love the horror genre and i think of late its missed alot of the fear factor and headed down the gore side of things.....so ive been outlining a few stories all with large fear factors in em....one is a resident evil story and the other is a toally invented one.....really cool stuff though
