What surprised me is how ambitious this movie was with its effects. The amount and quality of CG is impressive, really no problems in that regard. Anyone know which companies worked on this?

^Just to add to the posters reviews Empire gave this 3/5 as well, it seems to be getting decent reviews from fans.

No offense to The Vile One but he seems to be hard to please as a movie goer (again, thats not a jibe at him at all) based on his reviews of other movies I have liked, and he enjoyed it so that gives me faith.

Totally worth seeing in theaters, particularly if there's a matinee available.

^I was seeing it no matter what, huge Riddick fan, have been since 2000, though only on screen, never played any of the games.

Its just nice to see it getting decent reviews as well.

It's not that I'm hard to please, it's that most of what gets released is garbage. Also you know I loved Pacific Rim right?

Anyway, I think making Chronicles of Riddick and turning Riddick into this Neo type of hero in a story was bad. The story was poorly executed. Now I realize a lot of important subplots were cut, but I mean I like Pitch Black a lot but Pitch Black was just this dark, edgy R-rated cult sci-fi flick. It was a low budget movie that only made about $40 million and barely cracked $50 million worldwide.

I think making the world of this story bigger is cool, but I think they should've done it gradually.

To me this was like Carpenter and Cameron did before they had really huge budgets back in the day.

I thought Riddick was an unpleasant sit. It was a boring plotless, characterless rehash of Pitchblack. I'd rather watch Chronicles of Riddick a thousand times over because at least it attempted something. BTW the dialogue was just atrocious on every level, I'm used to dialogue in action films not being good but the dialogue in Riddick was uncomfortably bad.

RATING: 3.5/10

The direction and look of the film is quite impressive, too bad about that script.

I re-watched 'Chronicles of Riddick'. It's still barely watchable despite some imaginative scenes. It's extremely self-indulgent. I think they went big too fast.

How was the greenscreen. I think the worst shot was with that woman running, against the sunset in the trailers. Is it that bad in the final film too?

Hell, that scene in the trailer with him grabbing the flying reptilian bird thing from beneath the sand was impressive on its own.

I think the visuals are very good for this film for what they have. A lot of scenes are kept closer and tight so you see more of Diesel doing the fighting and it looks like its Diesel most of the time.

I need a verdict on whether this movie is worth seeing on IMAX, or just go with regular big screens.

The IMAX I am talking about is LIEMAX, not even real IMAX.

I saw it in LIEMAX (that's the format the screening was in) and I mean, it looked really good, but I don't think its necessary. I mean the picture quality and image looked great since it was digital projection.

But nothing was spectacular enough to appreciate the IMAX factor, correct?

OK guys...I can afford to see ONE movie. Elysium or Riddick. Which should I see? (note: I greatly enjoyed both previous Riddick films)

How Katee Sackhoff only gon' show ONE T*TTY?!?!?! :cmad:

I give this movie a D. I thought they would go with a different better ending.[BLACKOUT] I thought they would go ahead and kill Riddick on his battle on the rocks. While the movie sucked and I wished for a better ending. I expected an epic and thought this third movie would deliver and give it to us. Still, if he died on those rocks it could have bumped this score up a little.[/BLACKOUT]

Again I honestly wasnt having a go at you Vile, it was just to point out you liking this movie gave me hope that it was good.

I agree there is a lot of garbage released today, and its cool you liked PR as I did.

But again it wasnt a go at your tastes or anything, I'm just glad you liked the movie as that means there is a very good chance I will too.

Well... I just realised that I've talked to Katee Sackhoff before, and I never knew she was an actress until I saw her in Riddick tonight. Kind of wish I had known this before...

What?! You've never watched Battlestar Galactica before!?

That's awesome if you've talked to her before!
