Riddick sequels still coming?

We watched it right away. Got our harold & kumar on while watching it.

And yea PB isn't a movie for everyone.

I'm just happy to see riddick I love the character and he needs a true trilogy on film.

Chronicles was a piece of crap. I really think Pitch Black should've been its own little thing. Riddick isn't a good enough character to carry his own franchise, and an epically scoped one, at that.

Agreed. Riddick was cool in Pitch Black, but he's not interesting enough to carry on into other films, IMO. This new Riddick film looks like it might be better than Chronicles, but that's not saying much.

My guess is, it will be this year's Dredd. The film that the fanboys praise as the God's gift to cinema and the film the rest of the world barely knows about.

I think Von Diesel has enough selling power to make it much more successful than Dredd...it will depend on how the trailers look and what kind of buzz it can get going...i think it could be a modest hit.

I liked the trailer when it was sci-fi First Blood. Once it retreads Pitch Black, I felt a little disappointed.

I don't think it's at all negative that the movie resembles pitch black...that was a great movie and really had a good angle on the survival horror.

THis is what the franchise should have been from the start.

Chronicles is a guilty pleasure of mine...but i don't think the creators should be praised for trying something different..let's face it they wanted to turn a cult classic into a cash cow and pretty much put a mish mosh of too many themes (and tried to force too much in 1 film) on the screen.

I've always argued part II should have been confined to cremetoria and had a self contained story there...less lofty goals = more quality...I do think the Necromonger concept was sound, but should have been a slower roll and introduced at a more mysterious rate.

I agree, although I loved Pitch Black. Seeing the world(s) in Chronicles was just amazing to me, so much awesome! Loved the way the universe was presented.

There's a lot to admire about "Chronicles of Riddick", mostly with the art design but to me, it's a movie that doesn't work. I like ambition but it doesn't work everything. It's okay to keep things small, and Riddick shouldn't be this grand space opera.

I don't think him having a destiny that he didn't want and didn't seem suited for made him any less of an anti-hero.

I like Chronicles too, but nothing in Pitch Black suggested space fantasy. PB could've easily taken place in the world of Alien. That's kind of the approach I like for the Riddick character. But I wish Diesel and Twohy had created an original character for Chronicles.

Robot Fassbender deserved an Oscar nom, Prometheus definitely has a lot of positives.

That's my point. Pitch Black came off with a type of universe that Alien could fit into, with a certain realism; while Chronicles is full on Star Wars. It's so strange.

that was also a very big problem it was such a world change and a visual change that it was jarring it is like going from aliens to star wars
