IT's always nearly impossible to compare a four year old franchise with something that has been going on for 15.

TB is a 4 year franchise but the old Batman TAS (which is the one im arguing for here, i, myself never really watch TBNA or JL that much) went on for just over 3 years in its original run, September 5, 1992 – September 16, 1995.
won't be able to change the minds of anything that someone grew up with and loved but then i have an open mind about things and am willing to give new things a chance (not saying you're not) so i feel it's good to appreciate the positives some changes may bring. I think the batman holds its own on a lot of aspects except familiarity and nostalgia but these are unconsciously some of the most important.

Also what you say about people not being able to let go, i think Batman Begins is living proof that people can let go if they think it is better.

Well to be fair, the large role of robin's reckoning was a flashback while i was comparing the present bruce with the present bruce from both shows and the way they both handled or wanted to resolve the situation with dick.
Well as you say, it was a flash back so it wasn't present day Bruce.
The only things people can go on about this show now is the same thing they have been saying about it since the first or past season, which really comes down to character designs, annoying batgirl etc
Well weather its the same thing they have been saying for ages or not, its still annoying people and putting them off watching it.

Rock, you know it's not fair to separate it out into original runs, it's impossible to go into time and validate things like that. The last appearance of batman was in destroyer in season 3 of jlu. All his apperances up to that point account for the way people think of him.

I wasn't comparing that flashback bruce, i was comparing the one that witheld evidence from dick just incase he thought he might do something drastic, in comparison to the bruce who saw an opportunity for redemption and went after zucco himself. IN the former bruce was the voice of reason while in the latter it was dick. Dick is somewhat more essential to bruce in the batman and it comes across in that ep better that he does need a stabilising influence to his crimefighting antics.

I have no real respect for people who judge things before getting a proper opinion on it all. If you look at all the review threads for the episodes of the last season, (infact everything from the last comic con), all the reviews have been positive.

Personally if someone is put off watching something based off the experience, then really they don't have the basis to properly come in and voice their opinion on the whole. Also my experience of it is not going to be tainted by their views either.

I'll agree with you 100% that Robin seems to be more important to Bruce in TB, weather thats a good point or a bad point is up to you, I personally am not a fan of Robin or Bat-girl. Batman in TAS probably felt that if he was going to train Dick, then letting him go after the person who killed his parents on his first night out probably wasn't the best way to do it, so tried to bring Zucco in himself. Also you cant blame those people who wont watch all of the episodes before judging it because lets face it, if you watch 5 or 6 episodes of something and you hate it, then your not going to be that willing to keep watching it waiting for it to get better. I'm also with you on season 4 being a lot better, Strange new world was my personal favorite episode they've made, the story was quiet similar to Batman vs Dracula aside from the twist, but it was still well made.

I understand about five or six eps or something of a similar quality being enough to turn someone off it but apart from commenting on those five or six eps, you aren't able to give a true representation of what is going on now.

it's like watching five or six eps of static shock and basing all your views of dcau on it.

issues from yesteryear should not be enough to condemn a show that seems to have gone full tilt in season four.

season two was pretty damn good and ended strongly, then they faultered with batgirl in season 3 but they are now back strong with robin in season four and with guest stars galore in season five, i don't think there should be anything to really put people off watching, enjoying and embracing this season and cartoon.

I feel it is a shame that those put off in season one aren't able to enjoy it now in the fifth which is probably has no real relation to the way the show started out.

I dont agree on your static shock comment, because the DCU is hundreds of characters and art style and voice actors and so on, its much different, thats like opening a huge box of chocolates, eating one then discarding the rest because you don't like the first, with The Batman, its the same art style, the same actors and the team on it.

Only time i'd agree with you on that is when the episode is like Artifacts, strange new world, or the new season is half the JLA in it. Those different the to the norm.

so far this is the way i see it...

season one was mediocre although the two part ender is vital to the batman world...

season two had a few misses but generally did a good job, especially near the end

dracula vs batman was pretty damn good as well

season three was mediocre and had more average eps than good although the ender was also good.

season four apart from like one episode has been to a very very high standards, with more than six eps being potential all time animation favourites.

for me, that's about half and half. With an up and coming season that 'looks' strong, i don't see why people wouldn't want to start afresh and give the show a chance.

especially with a change in direction, past norms are no longer going to be reflective on what is about to be shown...
