Rob Cohen to Direct The Mummy 3?

I think they are odd movies, that don't suck as much as I think they should, and what I mean by that is when your not watching them they look like some of the most unproffessional movies ever, especially in consideration of them being classic remakes, but when you are watching them, you (or I) can't take my eyes off, and always enjoy them while watching

I also think they waited a bit to long, maybe Brendan Frazier thought this would jolt him into superstardom, so he asked for a break, but it didn't, really the only actor who's career got a big boost from the Mummy is Oded Fher, but in anycase, this should have been made a minimum of 2 years ago to keep fan interest up.

I am intrigued to see what they do, becuase I love the premise of the movies, they are alot like the Pirates movies with about 1/10 the pay off, but still historical stuff with a supernatural twist, I will see it

Mummy 3 Story Details Unwrapped
Source: SCI FI Wire
January 22, 2007

SCI FI Wire talked to Al Gough, who is co-writing the third "Mummy" film with partner Miles Millar for director Rob Cohen and Universal Pictures. Gough revealed that the story will involve the grown son of Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evie (Rachel Weisz). You'll be seeing a new mummy as well.

"We figured out a really good family story with Rick and Evie, and [their son] Alex is now grown up. So it's really interesting." Alex was played as a young boy in 2001's The Mummy Returns by Freddie Boath.

He added that Fraser and Weisz are in talks to return. They are expected to start shooting this summer for a summer 2008 release. Visit the link above for more of the interview.

I kind of wish they would have dropped the whole kid/son thing and just focused on Frasier and Weisz characters along with Fehr and Hannah's character's. But either way I am looking forward to another Mummy film.
