Robert Pattinson IS The Batman

Oh I agree, the backlash is not on that level. Not even close. I was a bit too young to remember the Keaton reaction, but I feel like that and Ledger's reactions were on a similar scale and level of vitriol. Affleck was close, but I'm not sure it was quite on those levels as he had a lot of early defenders as well.

I think people are just preemptively assuming there's a bigger backlash because of the franchise's history with controversial castings and the fact that he's known for Twilight. And let's face it, any backlash that exists is mostly stemming from the #ReleasetheSnyderCut crowd who are viewing the whole situation as WB screwing over Snyder. And as with anything these days, an angry minority is easily amplified.

But the petition is a joke. It's got like 6,000 signatures. That's nothing compared to the 1 million GoT just got.

Ironically enough Pattinson received more signatures against him by Twilight fans when he got cast as Edward Cullen (yup there was uproar about that too.)
75,000.

Honestly I didn't even really "feel" the backlash of Ledger too much. I was in the thick of the forums back then too, and it always felt like a small circle of us. Social media was barely a thing back then, so it was really just the fandom freaking out from my vantage point.

It seems like the retrospective on that time is a lot stronger than it actually was.

Jonathan Nolan says he "didn't get" Heath Ledger's 'The Dark Knight' casting - NME

In a new THR interview, Jonanthan Nolan says he “didn’t get” his brother’s choice of Ledger for the movie. “No one got it, the studio didn’t get it. Everyone was coming at Chris [Nolan] and saying, ‘we don’t see it’,” he said.

“And the fan community was … we were f—ing pilloried for it,” he continued. “It was a disaster. This was the worst casting decision ever made. Chris just hunkered down and stuck to his guns and kept moving along.

What's interesting about Ledger's casting is that he didn't even go through an audition process. He was still perfecting the voice after he got cast. Nolan just had a couple of meetings and trusted him

Similar to Pattinson. There didn't seem to be much of a search because both filmmakers knew what they wanted.

Ought to be more like the NFL where ownership has to interview more people, including minorities, before they make a hire.

I am joking folks.

Oh, I'm not disputing people disagreed with the casting. Just that the internet was way different back then, and opinions weren't nearly as accessible and broadcast to everyone thanks to social media. Even the press and online blogs worked differently, they weren't as tuned in with reporting fan chatter as they are now.
I was there too. I remember a TON of backlash. Brokebat Mountain jokes everywhere.

God I wish Heath was still alive. I honestly think maybe just maybe the DCEU would look totally different if he was still around. I get sad imagining the potential of a true Worlds Finest movie with Lex and Heath’s Joker teaming up against Superman and Bale’s Batman.

I honestly like a little bit of musculature in my batsuits. The DCEU Superman suit looks ridiculous with all the over padding and muscles but I think a muscle suit can be done well

How do we feel about Pattinson having this hair color?

Reminds me of Christopher Reeve's hair, and I have zero issue with that.

He's filming Souvenir II now. I think he's playing the new love interest
Good luck with the tight schedule.

The Souvenir doesn't look like a film that'd take too much time to film. He'll probably be done with it in a few weeks.

I so want to see him in new movies. It's a good thing that he'll star in several more movies before he finally stars in The Batman. Give us a chance to see how he'll grow as an actor up until that point.

I still think Armie would have done a good job. He probably wouldn’t be viewed as one of the great Batmen, but he would’ve done a solid job. Pattinson is going to bring something new to the table, I can feel it. Armie would’ve been Affleck 2.0. Solid but generic.

Pattinson’s Batman will be mentioned alongside Keaton and Bale.

Pattinson has a genuine chance to be the best Batman since both Bale and Keaton lacked a lot of things that Pattinson can add.

Thank you for saying Batmen instead of Batmans. That drives me crazy. :funny:

Hopefully he can add the physicality that only Batflecks has achieved, and has been a major problem in all the Batmen iterations.

Okay, not to **** on him, but I don’t think his physique was that impressive. Come to think of it, I don’t think any of the Batmen looked super impressive outside of Bale in BB. At least IMO.
