Robert Pattinson IS The Batman

Brown / Dark Brown hair makes sense if Matt Reeves is going to film a lot of scenes at night time (with Bruce Wayne that is) as Black hair would make it difficult to see him in dark.
I think it just simply looks better and more natural.

I dunno about that. He may be getting pretty close to Bale's shape in TDKR, but there was more to Bale than you think in TDK. That shot of him in the pullover is deceptive. While not huge in TDK, Bale was carrying quality muscle in TDK that went a long way. Pattinson looked like this right now, I'd be super happy
I'm still a tad annoyed Bale went all out in physically transforming for his roles, in everything but Batman.

Considering his reputation for being so method, even back then, I would have thought this aspect would have been guaranteed. But he honestly looked no more impressive than most guys I see in the gym.

I want Rob to go beyond just being in shape, but the reality is his scheduling may have not permitted it.

I mean, you have to keep in mind that Bale most likely also had scheduling issues. He went through radical transformations in his roles inbetween Batman movies, and then tried to get back to the Batman physique. Had he been more consistent it'd have been a better result, he probably tried his hardest but with how insane he is in every role it was impossible.

Rob has the potential to have a Hugh Jackman transformation throughout the course of the trilogy, since he doesn't really do the types of "get super thin one day, get fat the other" transformations Bale did. So if he maintains the physique he has right now and then amps up a little for the next film and then more for the next one it may be great, who knows.

Honestly the complicated thing about Batman is that he's the one superhero where he's a superhero that is supposed to be peak of physical and intellectual perfection but he's also a complicated character you legitimately need an actor with a lot of range and well... just in general a really, really geat actor, so you can't just simply cast Chris Hemsworth's, Henry Cavill's, Jason Momoa's, etc in the role.

The really great actors aren't super jacked because they typically play roles more interesting than just muscle guys or pretty boys. The "ideal Batman" would probably be someone with the physique of a fitness Instagram model that appears in B movies and the acting skills of Daniel Day Lewis and that just doesn't exist; if such hypothetical person existed they'd have given the role to him but alas, that's not the case.

Bale did transform for Begins. He was chubby when he was cast because of his latest film at the time

I really hope that Matt Reeves creates this type of viral campaign, similar to Turkish Airlines ads with Affleck and Eisenberg.

Yup, part of his regimen was to take a lot of weight in a small amount of time. Finally he was so big that the crew jokingly called him Fatman on set.

Yup. This has always been a bit of a bummer/bitter sweet thing about the Nolan batmovies. You have an actor known for physically transforming himself in roles and he does just above the minimum imo post BB. You have a director considered and always hailed as some ''genius'', but he doesn't really embrace the detective side of Batman. One would assume that would've been Nolan's bread and butter, but nope.

Bale almost overcompensated from being emaciated in The Machinist. He gained a great deal of weight in a short period of time, but looked too big to the point where the crew jokingly called him "Fatman" on set. He then had to lose a little of it and get more muscular.

And yes, it is kind of a shame he looks his best in Begins. In TDK his face is very noticeably thinner.

Everyone blames the batsuit but I think Bale is also a bit to blame about the look in TDK/TDKR as well. Had he been a bit more muscular that suit would've looked a bit better. Still, I can't really fault him because of the fact he was still transforming in-between films for other roles.

That's always been the odd thing about Batman movies.

Batman is supposed to be one of the best, if not the best fighters in the world, this super athlete and yet the fight scenes in almost all movies are lackluster and he's mostly been weirdly stiff.
He's also supposed to be the world's greatest detective and yet we've barely seen him do any detective stuff in the movies.
Ah, he's also supposed to have a no kill rule that causes conflict with a lot of people yet the fight choreographers always make him kill.

I know that there's /technically/ no such thing as a definitive version of a character or whatever, but still, I feel like the reason fans have been so open and excited for a reboot since the TDK trlogy ended is that, as beloved as some of the previous movies have been.... it still doesn't feel like we've really seen a "definitive" version of Batman in so far as what you'd call a definitive version of him based on his best attributes in the comics. We haven't really had the equivalent to a DCAU or Arkham Batman onscreen, and that's the version Batman fans (including me) seem to like the most

Nah. That suit was trash regardless of Bale's physique.
He'd have at least looked more imposing. Part of the problem with his look in those films is that he really wasn't any more imposing than Harvey Dent or the Joker when he appeared in a scene. That cut down his screen presence a little bit.

I agree and it reminds me of the promo art from TDKR.

Despite the fact that it's something drawn with some degree of idealisation in the proportions, I think it could have been achievable in real life. It's not that far from Begins proportions.
I never was a fan of this suit but here... It looks really bad ass to me !

I saw this pic of one of Bale's stunt doubles in the batsuit and he looked better as well:

1500x500

My main problem with the TDK/TDKR suit is how skinny and unimposing it looks, but had Bale been bigger/more muscular it'd have actually worked quite nicely.
