I personally prefer certain heroes to be played by actors who either were already in great shape or got into great shape for the role. In the case of Bruce Wayne (and not with all superheroes) I’d also prefer him to be a good-looking dude. Keaton was still an amazing Batman for his time regardless but it’s a bit harder to mask the difference when he’s playing Bruce Wayne. It would probably be a lot harder to cast a young Keaton now even though we all know he’s a great actor. In the age where all of the major superhero actors are hyper-handsome dudes that look like they're in their physical peak, I don't quite think that casting a regular guy looking, semi balding comedian that's quite petite as freaking playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne, peak human Batman would fly nowadays.
Pattinson may not be that big, but at least the dude is tall and his face looks the part.
What exactly are you trying to prove here?
Yeah. I don't think anyone wants Batman to seem like the ugly duck compared to other superheroes.I personally prefer certain heroes to be played by actors who either were already in great shape or got into great shape for the role. If Pratt and even comedian Kumail Nanjiani can do it, a tall young guy carrying little fat cast as Batman can too, so hopefully we’ll see Pattinson make more changes as he appears in more films. It’s funny as I don’t think getting in shape was that important for the roles played by those other guys.
Yeah, Keaton wasn’t ugly. It’s more that being handsome seems like a distinguishable character trait of Batman and linked to his Bruce Wayne playboy persona, more so than for many other heroes. Again, like with Ledger, visual differences become minor when you get a performance that blows you away.Yeah. Not saying Keaton is particularly ugly, but if you compare it to pretty much every other superhero on screen nowadays... well.
But with Ledger they added makeup on him to make him look creepy and significantly less handsome, with Joker appearance is less of a problem because you can get creative with the design of the makeup.Yeah, Keaton wasn’t ugly. Terrible example because he completely looked the part of Tony Stark.Ok, wanna go with the example of the until very recently uninsurable ex-junkie who hadn’t headlined a film in twenty years as Iron Man instead?
When properly groomed and taken care of he did as we clearly saw since the first Iron Man.
Tobey Maguire hasn't played Spider-Man in 12 years and he got cast 19 years ago.Paul Rudd?
Tobey Maguire?
Benedict Cumberbatch?
Mark Ruffalo?
Don Cheadle?
Hasn’t played a superhero yet, but, the by your words, very ugly, Adam Driver is maybe the biggest male star right now. And has a lot of fan suggestions for different roles.
Sports science has changed a lot since the 80's, it's easier to get actors in shape now than it was back then. If Keaton had the kind of resources that Pratt has now, he would have gone through a bigger transformationKeaton did not make the sort of transformation Chris Pratt did. Chris Pratt used to be fat but as soon as he slimmed down and got fit for Star Lord he looked great.
Still wouldn't matter because of his face and height. Pratt's problem was never his faceSports science has changed a lot since the 80's, it's easier to get actors in shape now than it was back then. But you complained about his physique, not his face/height lol. The latter's also an incredibly moot point. Apple boxes? Lift boots? Not that hard.Still wouldn't matter because of his face and height.
I've been talking about his face on top of the many other factors around him, Eddie is the one that brought up the physical transformation aspect which doesn't matter in Keaton's case. But you complained about his physique, not his face/height lol. I guess that makes Iron Man canonically shorter than Batman thenDowney is shorter than Keaton.
Not physical transform, but unlikely choices for the role.I've been talking about his face on top of the many other factors around him, Eddie is the one that brought up the physical transformation aspect which doesn't matter in Keaton's case.
Pratt pre steroids looks like every other guy at the bar on Saturday night. He only got those chiseled cheekbones and square jaw after major weight loss.Still wouldn't matter because of his face and height. Pratt's problem was never his face
No one looks super handsome while fat, but if you're already quite handsome when you have an average physique you're still gonna look handsome when muscular.Pratt pre steroids looks like every other guy at the bar on Saturday night.
