Robert Pattinson IS The Batman

I loved this part. Seeing Batman examine a fresh crime scene with Gordon. I literally exclaimed “someone finally did it right!”

That's the part that really worked for me. The only part that didn't was Pattinson in plain clothes. Doesn't really scream "Bruce Wayne" at me.

Best shot of him imo.

Wasn't a fan of the mouth opening at first, but it works so well.
I told you all that it was the best way to get the effect of the classic, square opening from the comics in live-action. There is a reason why Alex Ross draws his hyper-real Batman with a mouth opening like this.

I would have thought the same, but that stare he is giving sells that it is Bruce. The clothes and hair are a particular look, but one I can get behind from a young Bruce. Kind of a European, haute couture look with the bangs and the super skinny suit and tie. A young, jetset, high fashion *****ebag. A good cover for a young Bruce.

You need a chiseled face to pull that off though. Something most past Batmen other than Clooney did not posses.

That shot compared to many others makes the other batsuits look cheap.

I see what they were trying to do in Batman v Superman, but it didn't work in execution in live-action. It looked just...off.

I think this is a bit of an amalgamation from a few things, but I definitely see the Arkham Origins suit influence. But the lighting and cinematography look perfect there. I feel like Reeves knows exactly how to shoot the suit.

The rain does look amazing in this footage.

It would be a shame if this Batman could never be in a World's Finest movie. I feel like they finally cracked the code.

Agreed.

On everything.

BvS, I too saw what they were going for as a direct translation but as it turned out on screen? No. Not in live action in a real world setting. Doesn’t fly.

In terms of suit influences, I see the following: Arkham Origins, Tell Tale, Gotham by Gaslight and 1939 influences.

Love suit coloring and texture too. A dark slate grey is a good look. Looks close to all black but enough two toned black / grey color scheme to be respectful of the comic source.

Between Tenet and this I used to think Battinson made a couple of great choices for his career, and now after finally watching trailers for both films I don't think I was wrong.

I hope this becomes the best Batman movie since the Dark Knight, maybe surpass it.

That's because their reference was the Frank Miller, senior citizen, thicc Batman. It was never not gonna look bloated. If they used a more classic design as reference maybe it would look better.

I wish they had made the cowl less plastic looking and less shiny. And I wish they would have given the cowl a more aggressive expression like the Batflek cowl.

Not yet he is still year one Batman, he hasn't yet become the iconic hero of Gotham City. He's still a rookie ala Arkham Origins. I think in the sequel he'll upgrade and his suit will evolve during Matt Reeves trilogy.

It's not Reeves style, but some day I'd also like to see a director give Batman a fully expressive cowl like Deadpools. It might not work, but Id like to see it attempted at least once. Shoot the scenes with motion tracking and a real mask and enhance with cgi.
