This could end up being Scott's "Man of La Mancha" (sp?) :(

I don't know what kind of language you're trying to speak there frenchie, but this is an english speaking site. Learn the language or get out of my internet.:o

Actually it's the Spanish I'm having trouble with :oldrazz:

you don't understand Robin Hood's situation then.

They're not even using the screenwriters who wrote the shooting draft. They got a completely different (and talented) playwrite to help rewrite the dialog on the set, so it's a rewrite on the go. So that is NOT common.

Rewriting dialogue happens on a ton of movies. Heck, sometimes it's called ad libbing with the actor doing the rewriting. And, sometimes it's reacting to what's working and what's not working on set.

Now, inventing whole new scenes, plot points, and structure is a whole different level.

Dr. Watson, I find your avatar strangely erotic :hyper:

Man... if this movie really costs $175 million, it's going to be hard for it not to flop.

It's a shame, I'm still looking forward to it and hoping that it will be the movie that Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves SHOULD have been... but even if it turns out to be good (despite all of the rumored problems and the script rewrites) it's going to have a hell of a time trying to turn a profit. Robin Hood has been done to death in movies, and Crowe's box office appeal has plummeted. I really don't see huge audiences for this. But I could be wrong.

Who cares whether it does flop? As long as it gets a decent release, why does it matter? Does anyone really want a sequel?

I often wonder why people think a film needs to be profitable to be enjoyable.

So after all that Crowe isn't playing Nottingham? And Nottingham isn't like the good guy?

I'm calling it right now. This movie will be the first big flop of 2010. 175 million dollar budget, re-writes on set, period movie. Yeah, yeah, it worked for Gladiator, but lightening does not strike twice. What was Universal thinking green-lighting this? I don't even know what this movie is about anymore. Crowe may be a decent actor, but outside Gladiator, he's never been a box office draw on his own. It's coming out a week after Iron Man 2. I smell disaster.

Is that $175 mill budget official or tabloid? Because last I heard it was $130 mill.

It's official, I posted it a page or two ago. It was supposed to cost $130 mill. There's been a lot of fighting on the set and it's cost a lot of time and money

I couldn't care less, as long at the movie is enjoyable. I think fretting over the fiscal success of a flick is a form of low self esteem; as if you have to form your opinions with reference to, or have them validated by, the behaviour of hoi polloi.

i always pictured robin hood with long hair and a green hood or something

Haven't you heard? Buzzcuts and really short hair is the new 'cool' or man's man hairstyle now. Just look at Perseus(Worthington) in the remake of Clash of the Titans. Personally, I blame the longer hair hate due to the girly haired emos. :(

I can't believe fighting on the set has upped the budget by $45 million. Is it so hard for the star and director to work together for a few months?

I like the pics. The heraldry on Robin's surcoat is interesting. Is it meant to be his own? If so, it rather indicates that he is of knightly rank, which seems to contradict what has been said about this Robin representing the origins of the character as a yeoman.
