I think it'll do slightly better than Kingdom of Heaven, but I wouldn't be surprised if IM2 was #1 again next weekend. The movie just looks to run of the mill with nothing in the trailers that has really wowed me.

Shrek will make a **** load. Not sure about Persia though. If IM2 can still pull in 60-70 million next week its straight. The PG-13 Robin Hood is a turn off. People like films like Gladiator not only because they are period pieces, but because they are violent.

so...with Sheriff of Nottingham being a minor character here, does it lead to a bigger role for a sequel (if there is one)? or at least at a 'high' note for him?

It's just ironic that the original premise of the film had the Sheriff as the main character/hero and then when that changed, it became a glorifed cameo.

Universal had a tough time last summer too. None of their summer 2009 releases broke $100M domestic (let alone break even), and it was only Fast and Furious, Couples Retreat and It's Complicated that saved them from looking completely lost.

2010 hasn't been kind to them from the get-go. The Wolfman, Green Zone and Repo Men were very expensive flops. I have a feeling Robin Hood is going to join their ranks.

hahahhahahhahah how cliche. executives allways say 150. its funny as hell.

200 is a normal budget for that kind of movies this days.

well they just need to quit puting out crap films and things will change. Seriously, look at that list, I don't give a damn about ANY of those films, the one film I did see on that list "Wolfman" was just horrible. Universal (as of now) sucks......

I saw the Real Robin Hood special on History last night... they pretty much showed half the movie. Performances and action look decent but that's about it. Nothing you haven't seen before. If you are sucker for these history pieces that try to be somewhat accurate, check it out. I'll be renting.

Universal needs to shake things up with their management. There is a pattern of overbudgeting that's going on at that studio. Evan Almighty, Green Zone, and Robin Hood just to name several from the last few years. Hollywood as a whole needs to stop giving Ridley Scott such huge budgets for risky projects, many of which have flopped. Even American Gangster (which was a success in part due to Universal's massive marketing campaign) had a ridiculous budget for a dialogue-driven drama. $100-freaking-million.

they had a Robin Hood movie special on History Channel last night, and despite the re-visioned historical accuracy to it, Crowe seems as miscast as Robin Hood as Costner was. Damn you, Cary Elwes!
