Robin Hood

Doubt it, everyone who is not somewhat nerdy(us), thinks it looks awesome.

I doubt it will bomb, but I don't know if it will be a super smash hit movie.

Maybe just one of those fillers.

Im not sure what to think of this movie. It looks like it could be another Kingdom of Heaven or Troy, but in one way it loks it might be closer to Gladiator and Braveheart like Bunker mentioned. Plus its Scott(though he is no longer as good as he was 30 years ago) and Crowe and Blanchett. But Robin Hood has also been done a milion times.

This film keeps looking better with each trailer but I still don't think it looks great. I love Scott so I will still watch it, but I don't expect it to do great at the Box Office (especially since its opening so close to Iron Man 2).

I was going to see it anyway but the new trailer definately sparked my interest alot more.

I haven't been following this film that closely but after seeing the trailer in the theatre I realized this film seems to be more about him during the Crusades. Didn't see that much that reminded me of the typical story where he mocks and trys to stop the Sheriff of Nottingham. At least that's what it looked like in the trailer.

looks like a good incarnation of robin hood finally

Why couldn't Mark Strong's character be the Sherrif, instead of Godfry.

I think the only scene that the trailer showed the Sherrif was when he was posting the 'wanted' sign.

Yeah, I'm still kind of confused about why they didn't do that. I guess they were trying to differentiate from the Costner film, where the Sheriff was the man bad guy.

And besides, NO ONE will ever be a better Sheriff than Alan Rickman.

that's the thing. Pretty much, Mark Strong's Godfry theoretically IS the Sherrif in the movie but without the title. Meanwhile, from what I read, the 'real' Sherrif that we all love is a minor character played up for laughs.

But i can promise you that people who didn't follow this flick will think that Mark Strong is the Sherrif for sure.

I still thinkt hey should have went with that opposite idea of Robin Hood being the actual bad guy. Would have been alot cooler and different.

Was that supposed to be with Bale playing Robin hood and Crowe tracking him down? I heard that was the original idea.

^That's what I heard too. It was probably nothing more than an internet rumor.

I can't help it... I'm really excited for this movie. Yeah, it's Robin Hood, AGAIN, blah blah blah... but we haven't had a really good Robin Hood movie in a long time. Prince of Thieves SHOULD have been that movie, but it's hard to say that it is when Robin was miscast and Little John got the shaft for a new character. Perhaps this new Robin Hood won't be any good but here's to hoping it is. There's plenty of talent in this thing and I like that it's a prequel/origin "Robin Begins" type of thing. The story of Robin Hood is too big to cram all into one movie.

I had a thought too... do you think that perhaps the reason that Mark Strong is playing Godfrey instead of Guy is because at the end of this film, we see a mysterious bounty hunter show up, looking for Robin... who will introduce himself as Guy of Gisbourne? I think that would be a cool way to hint at a sequel (and there have already been indications that they want to make one).

If they can guarentee me that somewhere during the movie Crowe yells out "Are you not entertained!" I will go see it for sure :hehe:

Well it is a good chance that I will be at the premire for this movie. This movie was selected to open the Cannes Film Festival this year. I got accepted in the the Creative Minds in Cannes internship program this year so YEA! If am super excited to be going to the Cannes film festiaval. If I get into the premire I will be sure to post my review and any pics that I may get!

I don't think it'll be that big a hit. Russell Crowe can't sell tickets like he used to and there hasn't been a "wow" shot in the trailer. They're clearly hoping for another Gladiator, but I'll just watch that again if I'm in the mood for that kind of film.

I still don't get why you cast RUSSELL CROWE for a ROBIN HOOD BEGINS/ORIGIN/PREQUEL movie.

Why did Russell Crowe completely change around the concept of the movie? I don't get it.

Just FYI, the buzz on this movie is dead. Nikki Finke was talking about it on the radio tonight and said this movie will be DOA.

my friend said that he will only watch this because of Crowe. he thinks he is a fantastic actor and to him he is a real man. not a hollywood supermodel.

the new trailer with Iron Man was epic. good editing IMO.

This movie looks like it's gonna be very good. I agree there is no buzz at all though. When the new trailer hit during Clash of the Titans, I was looking everywhere for this thread and never found it, til I think Hunter bumped it. But this is the kind of movie I always check out.
