Robin Williams

Didn't he get an oscar nom for Alladin? And is the only actor ever nominated for an oscar from voice over work?

Not sure, but he won for Good Will Hunting.

They didn't give Frank Oz a nom for Yoda

He's been nominated for Best Actor Twice, Dead Poets and THe Fisher King, and Best Supporting once, Good Will Hunting, that's all.

On a related note, RV wasn't bad. Pretty funny actually.

I was hapily surprised with Insomnia and One Hour Photo, sadly now he went back to his stupid family comedies.

I saw him the other day on Jay Leno, he cracked me up. :D
Insomnia was a really good film, I love Dead Poets Society, too.

The man is NOT funny - period. He was once funny when he was coked out of his mind in the early 80s, but he has pretty much been doing the same comedy bit for over 20 years ("Look at me I am dancing around and doing a gay voice").

However, that being said, I do believe that he has grown into a decent actor in non-comedic roles. Too bad he hasn't been funny in about 2 decades.

BTW, he is the WORST on talk shows when he does the zany Robin Williams bit when he starts prancing around like a flamboyant hairdresser.

Dude, Robin Williams on Broadway > your immortal soul.

Reconize, b***h.

What is it with comedians that drives them to turn saccharine maudlin after they've made a couple hilarious films? Williams...Steve Martin...Jim Carrey...Stephen Chiau...the list goes on and on.

A couple of points.

Comedy is one of the hardest genres and it is very, very difficult to remain consistently funny (IMO Comedy is highly underrated - at least good comedy is very rare and very hard to pull off time and time again)

Respect. There seems to a Hollywood backlash against comedies and comediec actors. Plus, there is simply much more good materila in drama than there is in comedy.

williams would of been great as the evil riddler in a suspense thriller batman 3 that was supposed to be that burton wanted. Stupid excecutives wanting more happy melas sold demanded jim carrey and so he quit

DEATH TO SMOOCHY!!! :D

"I'm going safari on you mother f***er!"

for the money I guess

^Yeah, but why didn't he make a good movie for that.Making movies like RV will just make him only get roles that appear on the sci-fi channel.

edit.

not sure but maybe he gets paid more for comedies instead of goodwill hunting type roles.

He won for Good Will hunting, btw....he was nominated a couple of other times, but only a one time winner
