RoboCop Returns?

The Robo design is about as iconic as you can get - I certainly dont think it needs to be changed. I mean, to anyone who says the design is outdated and is in need of an upgrade, given that we're still yet to produce a cyborg such as Murphy in real life, I'd say the original design still qualifies as viable 'future cinematic sci-fi tech'.

Anyways, there are few things cooler than the sound of Murphy's heavy and mechanical stomp. Why would anyone want to ditch that by giving him a sleeker design?

well small updates and changes would be made. anyone who thinks that they should have a 100% the same designe is in denial.

That much is pretty much a given, B.

I'm talking of wholesale changes which steer vastly from the original design that some people have suggested on here in the past.

I'm not in denial. Definatly not. Nope. Not at all. You're the one in denial. Yes you. Not me.

I wish Peter Weller was a little younger.

He would have made a fantastic Agent 47 in Hitman movie

Agreed.
And I wish Yul Brynner was still alive, he would have made the ultimate Agent 47.

I agree. For the "heavy stomp", I read in other forums that Murph is really slow... Well, if I was composed of titanium and if I got a perfect targeting system, I doubt I´d run a lot... And we saw him "running" in the first movie (seconds before Emil´s transformation into a "mutant", thanks of the toxic chemicals).

Anyway, seems the project is dead... No news about Aronofsky or about the status of the film...

So, I guess Aronofsky isn't attached to this film anymore?

really?

that sucks

he was the only reason i was looking forward to this movie because to be honest a remake is uneccesary. the first film is fine as it is

Seems like he´s more interested in his own movies (that ballet one with Natalie Portman, we can´t blame him for that), and in some interviews he seemed bother when they asked him about Robo. If the project still have "green light", I hope they´ll turn it into a sequel; it would be great to see the character in the big screen again!

Personally, I wasn't all that keen on him doing this, he doesn't seem to come off as very "satire" friendly, which is what a Robocop movie needs to be.

Last news was from Comic Con saying it would be a 2011 release. It will get made, they'll want their money. Star Trek's success this year and this week with Sherlock Holmes along with rebooted James Bond and Batman they'll move forward but it seems they want to do it right and not rush one out.

he's a good director but i dont think he's anywhere near right for robocop lol

len wiseman would be great

yea if he is off the film, and the studio still wants to give it a go they can easily just get another director on board.

I hope this movie goes through development hell then dies in the water.

Robocop's design shouldn't be changed, in fact to make it easier for the actor who'll play Robocop the suit should be a mix of rubber and CGI similar to what's been done to Iron Man.

And why even remake it, what to make it more violent, update Murphy's murder, add a few limbs flying off? the original was violent enough especially the un-rated cut.

they need to get the director who is completely nuts

find someone who is nuts and they will get the job done

No, they need to leave it alone.
I agree. I used to like the idea of a remake/sequel. But, why bother when you could make something fresh, without having anyone judge and compare it to the original? Let's get something fresh, grittier and new. Don't ---- with Robocop.
