RoboCop Returns?

I am confused and terrified. Robocop is sacred ground. They tried to kill me with those awful TV movies, and now they're back to finish the job!

Of course, any Robocop project without Weller has an immediate two strikes against it. All attempts at Robocop without Weller have failed. I would love, absolutely love to see another good Robocop film, but the odds are just so astronomical... Hence, my terror and confusion. I require details on what this is and who is involved.

Weller just knew how to play that role. It is so his. All power to whoever plays robo here, but Robocop is an easy character to screw up and look stupid doing it, so Peter Weller gets an abundance of respect, because to me he never forgot that the guy is half-human. I just hope they keep the heart of the first film, because that's one of the reasons it's the best.

I thought it was confirmed a few months ago the studio that has the rights to the movie series was planning to remake it and it was possibly going to be shot in 3D. I do hope it is fully live action and cgi when needed, hopefully it will have a good story and Stay an R rating so we can have the blood and guts that makes robocop the way we loved him.

I don't know... if it is animated, it could also be direct to dvd, and it would be easier to ignore it...

It's not gonna be animated, they saw Iron Man's success and in those studio minds they thought "Man in metal suit makes money!" and thus a PG-13 Robocop will be hitting cinemas in 2010.

If it's PG-13, I'll puke, too.

Was this robocop confirmed to be pg13, last i heard when the film was announced a few months back it was planned to be R and possibly in 3D.

you better get your sick bucket ready then, I would love to get this overconfidence in my opinion shoved in my face but i doubt i will.

It's def gonna be PG-13... I don't think they are gonna take the risk of bringing back an old franchise, with a probably angry fan base, and rate it R...

I will doubtless avoid this movie like I did Willy Wonka.

Well it is very early stage of production/pre production. I hope it stays R rating like it should be those tv movie/miniseries thing on a tv show rating some what sucked. But if it is pg13 it isnt the end of the world. There is alot u can pull off on a pg13 rating now adays. Then we can always look forward to them shooting an alternate version of the film were it is R rating/unrated.

WOW..my favorite movie of all time. As plenty as said I don't want to see a remake. A good script with solid director and we should be able to get a sequel still fresh and new. Keep the R-rating but like most have said, the studio is probably banking on the PG-13 for more sits in the theaters by doing it that way.

I'll wait for some actual official details before I make any decisions. I hope it isn't a remake, but if so, I wouldn't go as far as to say it wouldn't work. The satirical spirit is still very possible, and in my opinion, John Q. Public needs to be reminded that he's ridiculous. People still do/buy/watch stupid things, and some of those things were in the original (you still see idiots driving gas guzzling SUVs). So to me, the ideal outcome of this movie would be not a remake, but sort of a reboot, with the satirical spirit still intact, but updated.

As for the rating...I of course would prefer R, but I always got the sense that Robocop was almost upping the violence as if it were ripping on the plethora of R-rated action flicks we had in the 80s...and when it comes to the action movie, they sure don't make them like they used to. But who knows. Perhaps the public reaction to Watchmen will give studios some insight as to how films with R ratings and things that typically appeal to kids go over...Though I'm sure there will plenty of ignorant parents bringing their kids to see Watchmen because they thought superheroes = safe (similar to the horror stories I heard about parents bringing their kids to see Pan's Labyrinth).

PG-13? What about his gruesome turn in which he's blown apart and then rebuilt? I foresee a bad outcome because of this rating. However, it has peaked my interest...

This reminds me of Planet Hulk. Will a Robocop remake be the Sakaarson, redeeming the world, or the Worldbreaker, destroying everything?!

For the record, the film being PG-13 is just our speculation.

Yea since it still very early on with this film production we have no clue what will be going on with it. I totally agree i would love for it to be R rating like the classics were and it if marketed right it could do a killing in the BO. But in today's age pg13 is the more standard rating on films and if they end up making it that they can still pull off alot of things on the rating. Plus as i said in an earlier post we can always look forward to getting R/unrated dvd release version of the film.

Yea there has been no word on the rating or overall plot of the film. From what we know only thing known is the film is in the works. There is no cast, writer, or director on this yet right?

Not by the sounds of things. Wonder is we'll be hearing some more details out of ComicCon on this?

Sweet god, please be R. What are they gonna do in Murpy's death scene? Fade to black and just focus on the guys shooting on him? Let's hope it's R guys. Robocop 3 was tame enough.

Let's hope Murphy's death scene isn't necessary...because then it's definitely a remake.

This is really going to happen, huh? Okay......they better come with one hell of a trailer.

Well I saw rocop3 few months ago end let me tell you I didn't wont to ear about it anymore. But since Iron man came in strong. I think there is a way out for Robocop 4 (no need for reboot). As for PG 13 All I have to say is Hollywood is a dictator. Where s the got Damn freedom of speech?
