RoboCop Returns?

What makes you so sure?

If the Robocop program has been suspended, chances are they haven't kept Murphy around.

Yes, that is a very real possibility. If thing do turn out that way, my interest in this film would evaporate--I have no interest in seeing some new guy become Robocop. What's the point? We've already seen Murphy become Robocop; we don't need to see it repeated on somebody else.

There is a lot more potential in OCP having Robocop on ice, and this seems true to the spirit of the original film. Doesn't that just reek of something OCP would do? Decommission a living thing that they can't afford to maintain any longer, and stuffing him away in a warehouse somewhere?

Because, since this a continuation of the series and not a remake, why get rid of Murphy?

The thrill here is Robocop being obsolete technology is an advanced age we haven't seen before in this series.
How does he stack up against an entire police force consisting of advanced, faster, stonger Robocops?
And how does he fight them when he learns they are corrupt?

This could be great, I am envisioning the original Robocop meets I, Robot meets Blast From The past (The Brendan Fraser movie where he leaves the 60's behind in his bomb shelter to emerge in a confusing future)

yea i would love to see it be murphy and them playing on the fact he is old tech in this new tech world and all that.

yeah that would be interesting...but i have a feeling it will just be them releasing robocop 2.0 20 years later, after they realize the world is still corrupt.

Good point, let's hope for that.

I don't WANT him gone, I don't think Peter Weller will return to the role and I think without him, there's no Murphy. I know others have played the part but it's just not the same.

As long as the police force doesn't look like Robocop, but advanced cyborgs or something. Maybe a way of sneakily doing Robocop vs Terminator without it actually being Terminator.

Eww I, Robot.

I wouldn't want Peter Weller back, his face has aged.
I would like to think, since he is a machine, he wouldn't age.

thats were makeup comes in lol. But we will just have to wait to more news comes out on how the script is going and if we are getting a new robocop or murphy's robocop is coming back.

A 3-D Robocop would have been cool, but I'm so glad this is an R. :oldrazz:

Sweet good to have more confirmation that it will be R rated, so its going to be a reboot/reimaging then huh.

I used to be completely against another RoboCop movie, but I have a feeling with DarrenArron onboard, it will be completely f****** badass.

Just saw part 2 the other day, i cant wait for a Robocop remake.

hahah of course it will be R. it needs a very good studio to make an R rated robocop in this time

So Robocop is going back to R rated status?

Good. That's been LONG overdue.

The R rating has been known for a few months now. Cant wait to hear more news on the story and then casting.

That would make sense considering Ironman was the inspiration behind Robocops look back in '87
Actually Blade Runner was the main inspiration for RoboCop being written. The writer states that he was on the set of Blade Runner and was told that the movie was about a cop that kills robots, so he wrote a film about a robot/cop that kills humans.

If they're smart they'll stick to the established look of Robocop with a few tweaks.....

Robocop also drew it's fair share of inspiration from Judge Dredd as well from what I recall reading years ago.

Yes i hope they keep new robocop look simular maybe keep the same look but maybe make it a bit sleaker.

its impossible to confirm it'll be R with barely a script written lol

Not really: they just say "It's our intention to make it an R," and then write it accordingly. That's sort of like saying "It's impossible to say it'll be a kid's film with a barely written script."
