Roland Emmerich's 2012

finally saw this...

this movie was pretty bad, endlesssss scenes of two people talking on phones across the world telling each other how much they love one another..ugghhh kill me after the third call scene i started lookin at my watch.

however the movie had ammazzing vfx... shame it was wasted on this.

also sucked how each disaster got cheaper and cheaper...
went from earthquake to volcano to water floods.

5 out of 10..just for vfx.
zero for rewatchability lol

I had a lot of fun with the movie and laughed at the absurdity of it all. The characters were shallow, sappy and annoying as per every Roland Emmerich movie but the effects and destruction made up for it.

Spoons and I finally watched this last night. It was better than I expected. There were some REALLY cheesy moments, but all of the action was great. It made me fear for my life, though :csad: I enjoyed the realism vs emotional takes on how to survive.

same here, i think this movie is my guilty pleasure :csad:
for some reason i really liked the movie

This movie is making a killing overseas.

I found some/most of the characters really annoying and actually wanted some to die. The ending was pretty lame too.

Amanda Peet's boyfriend got a raw deal. He was a nice guy, and the writers clearly just killed him off so that she could get back with her ex husband more conveniently.

i loved the twist with the arks.

from watching all the previews and through half the movie i thought they were spaceships.

i thought they were space ships as well.... sure i remember the early stuff saying they were as well...

I saw this movie today and not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Though I was disappointed as when it first came out I thought it was gonna be a serious movie like 'The Day After....' or semi-serious. It turned into a cliche of neverendless escapes and destruction, though the destruction scenes were kindof cool.
The lack of insight to the Mayan calender and anything that pertains to it were thrown out..The science explanations were bleh, but not terrible kindof reminded me of 'The Core' type science..
If it wasn't for the length of the film it would of actually been more entertaining and Woody's small role;inwhich I thought was terrible.

I thought it was pretty aweful. Independence Day had every cliche in the book, but somehow pulled it off with panache. Not here. They recycled half the moments from ID4 (the dog making it to safety in the nick of time) but now they're stale and embarrassing.

I also hated it that
the stepdad was killed off. How clean and tidy, now Cusack can get his family back!
And what was with that Russian guy!

Also, all the action scenes were the same. Every single setpiece was the group of people in some sort of vechile outrunning some sort of disaster and escaping at the last second. Every single setpiece!

Negative.

This movie has made some serious bank so far, and while I enjoyed it on some levels, it just doesnt deserve the success it has had IMO.

SO...

I was semi-forced to see this film today (in spite of me promising not to ever watch it). And well, my expectations couldn't be any lower and I drtank some beer cans while watching it but I found this movie quite digestable. Sure, the crappy speeches and stuff was there but the fun was there too. And you can't but love John Cusack. I don't dare to rate this but I enjoyed it as a 3/5.

i enjoyed Woody's performance more than Cusack.
