Gerard Butler and Abbie Cornish in Geostorm

This was supposed to come out in October of 2016?

Yup. The initial cut of the movie was screened for test audience and the response was not good so Skydance & WB ordered re-shoots. Plus IIRC, the movie was supposed to come out in Feb 2016 before it was moved to Oct 2016. So Geostorm has been delayed twice.

I'm hoping it's so ridiculous it's actually funny. And that Ed Harris at least got paid well for this.

Popcorn disaster movies don't need to make sense. JUST GIVE ME DESTRUCTION PORN!

I'm surprised this has better reviews than the Snowman does :lmao:

Apparently 80% of the movie was reshot. Yeah this isn't like JL when folks seem to think Whedon reshot almost everything within 8 weeks.

It was actually scheduled to debut March 25, 2016 before Warners moved BvS there instead. It then moved to October 21, 2016 before being pushed to January 13, 2017. Then the reshoots moved it to October 2017.

Geostorm has gone through three date changes and came out a year and half later than scheduled. That's not good.

Saw Geostorm at the matinee yesterday. It's a step below Devlins disaster collaborations with Emmerich. Butler definitely miscast as a weather manipulating meteorologist / satellite developer genius. Overall kind of fun. Worth a matinee ticket as it has few cool popcorn worthy weather eventa.

That's why people should be checking out Only The Brave instead.

Oh well, I hope I get my fill of absurd destruction porn. That's all I care about. :D :D

Saw this today. I gotta say, even though it wasn't a good movie I had a pretty good time watching this. I'd say it's worth a Redbox rent. Several times I was laughing at how silly it was, but it was never offensively bad, imo.

Geostorm grossed an estimated $5.68M this weekend. 10-Day total stands at $23.55M.

I think when all is said and done, Geostorm can actually be a nice little moneymaker for WB or at least it can recover most of it's prod+marketing budget.

It will be somewhat respectably in the red (from WB's point of view as they only financed half of the movie along-with Skydance) during it's theatrical run and with the ancillaries coming in later, WB won't lose much and if Geostorm manages to do well in the HV sales, it may even see some tiny profits.

This one's getting better reviews than Snowman? **** off, this was utter trash from beginning to end, Snowman at least had Fassbender.

This is quite possibly the worst film of the year.
