I did something today. I didn't get very far, but here's what I've got:

Did quite a bit more since the last post- color, background, started on the hand etc.

Wow.

That is fantastic. I love the hints of yellow and red in the background. It is subtle, but really stands out due to the darker background. Great angle on Riddick as well.

The background really makes this piece. There's something about it. Everything looks great, but I would watch that left hand. All his fingers look as if they are the same distance from us, instead of being in a descending order.

From that vantage point, I feel like his middle knuckle should be larger and potruding a bit, blocking a small of amount of the ring finger. And since pinkies curl inward when relaxed, the pinky would be almost entirely covered by the rest of his hand. You would just see the pinky knuckle and a small portion of the first segment of the finger.

The combination of the dark sky with Riddick illuminated was an excellent choice.

Goddamnit, I hate that you're so good. I want your talent SO BAD. :csad:

...

Awesome stuff, though.

nice... how big are these paintings?

Thanks for the advice. The hand hasn't really been worked much- its barely past the 'blocking in' stage. I am working from a photo reference, and the hand (aside from shading and such) looks like that structurally. It looks sort of awkward in the photo as well- so if I can't get it to visually settle when I sit down to work on it I may just have to edit its positioning.

Thanks. :woot:

This Riddick one is a little 9x12in canvas- I don't usually work so small. All my other paintings (except the Wolvie one) are at least 2ft on the shortest side. I'm finding that working small is more challenging, in that you can't get away with any sloppiness whatsoever as far as edges, details, etc. Its becoming a great exercise in fine detail work.

YAY!! IRONMAN!!

Looks flipping sweet so far Runty.

Holy crap runt!
I'm impressed! How's your colouring?

EDIT: I just check the first page the second time, but now that I look up it's incredible! Good job Runt!!!
