10ish more hours:
Your work is stunning. I'm impressed. I couldn't paint to save my life. So I appreciate those who can.
10ish more hours:
Honest opinion?
They're 'alright.' As someone mentioned before, your proportions are off, and it doesn't really seem like you have your own style - perhaps that was the intention, as these seem to be based off of work by other artists, so -
The painted 'Wolverine' is a major sour-note, but again, you'd just started using them. The second is an improvement, by far.
Keep at it, I guess.
Actually, honey, I hadn't 'just started' using paints. Read it again.
I have a degree in painting, but thanks.
I also was very desperate for your approval to 'keep at it.'
What other artists did she base her artwork off then?
Thanks, Syncos! I get really frustrated sometimes, but I work through it. Speaking of frustrated, I HATE RDJr's face. HATE
But, its getting there.
My mistake, I guess.
I'm happy for you. Doesn't change my opinion of what I've seen any.
Apparently, seeing as how offended you seem to be over my comments.
Her Spider-Man seems based off of Mark Bagley's, except for the eyes, which are far too large.
It definetly looks like RDJ. But the reason that the face looks off is:
-his left eye is too big. Remember, in a 3/4 portrait the back eye should appear to be slightly smaller than the front eye. This creates the illusion of depth.
-the bridge of his nose seems to be dipping into his face, instead of pertruding outward. This is creating the effect of the left eye being higher up on his face than it is. In a 3/4 P, the tear duct of the back eye is usually obscured by the bridge of the nose.
-his bottom lip is too taught. It shouldn't be pulled so tight as it may actually make him look less like RDJ.
But, the armor is looking excellent, as is the hair. The painting has a very vivid battle-worn feel to it. If you can't quite nail the facial struture mathematically, I would highly suggest looking at the painting in a mirror. When we see the reverse of an image, the miscalculated areas have a tendency to really jump out and make themselves noticed.
And just as a side note, I know that Superhobo's remarks weren't really constructive and were a bit pretentious, but don't try to prove your artistic worth to someone with a degree. As much as it is an accomplishment to obtain one, there is absolutely no substitute for your work speaking for you. Think of it this way, if someone commisions you for a painting, are they doing it based on how much schooling you've had, or what your work looks like?
I wasn't attempting to change your opinion- I purposefully did not say anything about the parts that were your opinion because opinions are fine.

I responded in the way that I did simply because you presented it like an ass and deserved a response in kind.
Bendis, I believe it is actually. I forget, it was a while ago. Show didn't read my original post, in which I said my comic drawings were just doodle-ish reproductions.
And about the degree remark, it wasn't meant to 'prove' anything, just to emphasize the depths by which the idea that I'd just picked up paints was off base. (It was actually detrimental to myself to say it- if someone is criticizing my work it would be easier for it to be some sort of first attempt, not a skill I'd spent years working on. I said it simply to correct.) If it came off as waving my credentials, its not a tragedy but also not my intention.

Yes, I was probably confused by this part of your original post, to which I was referring when I'd said you'd 'just started' -
...how? How did I 'present it like an ass?'
Bendis is a writer .
Again, I say -
- to which I was referring. Geezus.
Oh yeah. I don't pay attention.
And yes I'm very well aware of which part in my post confused you. I was explaining to you, and then to keith_v, the reason I corrected you. It doesn't matter what part confused you- you were mistaken on a fact and I corrected that. Re-iterating the part of my post that is potentially confusing doesn't make a correction of facts any less warranted.
And if you are unaware of the ways in which your original post or potentially any other posts come off as written by an arrogant ass, then maybe you should stop posting until you have a more firm handle on how to convey yourself through the written word.

This is why I said "I must have been mistaken." I then went on to quote the part of the post which confused me to elaborate upon my mistake. What is this, Bizzaro World?
"Oh *****, *****, *****."
So I was pissed at it for a few months, Showshow convinced me to work on it again.
I want!
The face is much better now for keeping at it. The best part about paint is you can always paint over it
