Runtime confirmed by Fox: 92 minutes!

I too am disappointed by this.
Other than a comedy or animated film, I don't remember any films that impressed me greatly that were 90 minutes. With the exception of Shrek 2, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King, the top 20 highest grossing domestic films are all over 2 hours. I think people really want to see a good well rounded story to be truly satisfied.

I mean from what I'm hearing the Transformers are over 2 hours. Do you mean to tell me that Dreamworks can get 2 hours of movie out of the Transformers but FOX can't get 2 hours out of the FF, SS, Doom, and Galactus combined? I've said it before, this smacks of corporate thinking in my opinion.

90 minutes, more viewings = more $.
DVD Sales = $.
DVD 1.5 Sales = more $.
90 minutes, fits nicely into a 2 hour time slot on Fox Network.

Now let me think about this, I truly do love going to the movies I really do, some movies really do deserve the BIG screen but....

A) I could either plunk down my $9.50 ti see the movie once, overpay for stale popcorn and flat soda, endure an audience with people that won't shut up, or stop kicking my seat, or turn off their cell-phone, or control their kids, to see a movie that was cut up by 25%.

Or....

B) I could wait and buy the Directors Cut DVD for $15 and see the movie as originally intended with the 25% restored footage whenever I want on my nice home theater system where the popcorn is hot and the soda (or other beverage) is fresh and I can pause to go to the bathroom if I want.

Hmmmm....

Unfortunately, I'll probably do A once, matinee though $6.50, and B. However if it was really good and over 2 hours I would probably do multipe A's as I have done in the past many times.

My $.02.

Totally agree. And I'm in NYC. It would cost me $11 bucks to see it, and thats an all day price.

I think anyone who says "well, I'm not going to see it because It's 92 minutes", never intended to see it in the 1st place, and this is their excuse to say so. The buzzards have been just waiting for something negative to hang their hat on, and if this is the best they can do, then that's a good omen for the movie. Thats my opinion. And you know I'm not bashfull when it comes to giving my opinion.

For all of those complaining you have no impact on what the time is whether it's 92 minutes or 300 minutes. Either watch it or don't. For those saying they're not gonna see it now.

You're full of it.

No. I've been looking forward to this film. Every TV spot and Trailer has excited me. I'm always positive about these kinds of things. But now I think I've been to positive, defending movies that in the end let me down. I've had enough.

I agree that if you've had enough you probably shouldn't watch it. Tell me how Nancy Drew is.

Edit: ;)

Is the bad dream over? Can I wake up now? Is it back to 106 minutes? :csad:

At least Iron Man seems to be in good hands. :(

And AD, wtf is your issue? Did I seriously offend you or do you just naturally give people backhanded comments?

I forgot the wink ; after. Just being sarcastic but seriously let me know how it is. LOL J/K

As I said I will see it once in the movies, but, I won't return for multiple viewings unless it really blows my mind. I have actually been very optimistic about this movie and haven't seen anything I have really disliked so far.

I just think that if they produce a quality product the first time around with a "directors cut" with the proper length to develop the characters and stories and set up the set pieces dramatically, then it would produce more repeat viewings, box office, and DVD sales. Heck I love bringing friends to a movie I've seen and having them like it too, that's a great feeling for me.

But once again I see corporate thinking here and it's getting to the point where I have to ask the question:

Why should I see 75% of the product for $9.50 once, when I can see 100% of the product for $15.00 any time?

I personally am starting to lean to the latter, I'm not there entirely yet but I'm being pushed there by this type of thinking and that means less money for them.

Again my $.02.

I find it easier to watch the 1.5 hour films multiple times than the longer films myself. Especially since I already know these characters and their motives. I don't need too much explaining really. For example LOTR are some of the best films ever but for me they're hard to just watch over and over. At least for me.

I can understand that, I bought the full extended set last year and have only watched them once so far.

I think that they are an exception though, I can't just watch one personally, if I start watching I have to watch all three because the story is interconnected and that of course becomes a 12 hour event.

I see your point, and they are fine films, but at 3 hours their's a difference in say LOTR and F4. LOTR itself is much more epic and needs to be told in that amount of time. Yes they are good, and i myself despite buying the dvds of all three has not rewatched them to date. Now personally i don't think an f4 film needs to be 3 hours. I think 2 hrs to no longer then 2 1/2 hrs is fine enough. FOX has already set a low and mediocre tone with the first one, so i wasn't expecting something spectacular. I did hope that FOX would see that they dodged a bullet with the 1st one with the near universal bad reviews and opt to make a better product and while it appears they have going on by what we've seen i suspect the film is going to be a let down considering the short run time and the having both Doom and SS in the movie as well as a watered down galactus.

Ouch. Me no likee the running time. :csad:

Doesn't mean it will suck though. Fox will deliver.

...Right, guys? :csad:

Yeah i agree with you there i've only seen each LOTR film once, they're way to long to sit down and watch again and again.

And as for this topic i think we all have to just accept it, watch the movie for ourselves and then judge it. Because the runtime doesnt necessarily affect the quality of the movie.

Although it has a very good chance of doing so :oldrazz:

A very good chance when Fox is involved. ;)

Please god don't let this suck.

Geebus. An aethist is praying to God about a Fantastic Four movie. That's really something. Heh. :o
