For the Rush Hour franchise, I just can't see a fourth installment happening.

Based on Chris Tucker's ridiculous deal for this movie, it might be hard for this one to become profitable anyway. I mean... he's getting a fifth of the film's gross, that's insane.

DAMN...

Well...

...on the plus side, he does give to charity.

Tucker's a damn genius. I don't know how he managed to secure such a lucrative deal but whatever he did, you have to respect him for being able to pull it off.

That's the current American dream. You don't need to be talented or good at anything really to make big bucks.

Oh man, you watch Hannibal Rising.
That's the worst Lecter film, by far. If anybody on the face of the planet disagrees with that, they officially have no taste in movies.

I didn't even know there was such a film, but I try my best not to watch crap so thanks for the headsup.

I think Tucker is hilarious.
He is a great comedic actor, and his stand-up is very funny.

With that said, I commend Chris Tucker for being able to make 3 films in 9 years (I wish I could do that).

It is so bad, you can't even get a few laughs from it (like you could with Batman & Robin, Blade: Trinity, etc.).

I saw a trailer on TV last week and I laughed my butt off. Can't wait to watch this baby.

i saw clips on yahoo. it looks the same like 1 and 2 onlly new jokes. i like it.

Another whining fanboy who hates Brett Ratner because he ruined X3...

Another illiterate person who cannot grasp the basic concept of understanding. :whatever: If you can say that, I can say you're a mindless Ratner fanboy who would love him even if he killed kitttens.

Welcome to my **** list, warhammer. BTW, does Ratner wear boxers or briefs? Or were you too close to his rear side to get a really good look?

Anyway, I hate him for many reasons. He's a terrible director yet he holds himself on a very high pedestial. Reading interviews with him, it's obvious he gives himself way too much credit and assumes people look up to him actually consider him a good director, despite his weak track record. The man is in the business because he sees it as a way to become rich and famous, not because he cares about the art.

Read KenK's post below.

No need to. I am not an apologist who doesn't understand how movies are made. Ratner could have refused the job. He could have foreseen -- had he the vision and humility -- that the job was waaaay over his head, and way beyond any semblance of talent he may possess.

Hopefully that was clear enough to you. If need be, I can draw pictures next time for you. :whatever:

Heh, beware Warhammer, as SolidSnake follows you around and goes out of his way to bash your opinion, BEWARE... Anyway Warhammer, don't mind SS typical elitist know-it-all, just wait till he gets either put on probo again or banned for good... He's only been warned like gazillion times not to be a dick. :whatever:

Is Brett Ratner really worth hating that deeply? Or liking that much? Is there anything in his career that implies he should be taken seriously either way? He's a hired hand, an errand boy who produces workmanlike product, some of it better than others. He's solid and unremarkable. So unremarkable that I'm amazed he can inspire anything other than apathy.

Ratner didn't kill X3, because he just came in and did the job he was hired for and did it at least as well as Singer would've, because Singer never knew how to direct action anyway so he might even made it worse. Ratner just came in and imitated Singer's style, because that's what he was hired to do. After all, he has no style of his own, so copying people is easy.

I dont LOVE him or hate him...

His movies are all worth my 9$ and are definatly enjoyable... Red Dragon, rush hour 1 and 2, After the sunset, and X3 were all great.

I'm an X-men fan and i loved X3 despite all the negative fanboy biching it recieves everone i know loves it too...

am i anticipating his next film?.... no. but im sure to have fun.

Singer would have had Juggernaut talking about how he was unstoppable, but because he hated Charles he couldn't bring himself to show it. And then he would stalk him by looking into the windows of the X-Mansion.

Bishop sums up my feelings about Ratner... What was Red Dragon? A poor imitation of Silence of the Lambs however it had Edward Norton, Ralph Fiennes, and Anthony Hopkins so it turned out good. What was X3 a more action pack imitation of the previous entries. Rush Hour movies simply float on the talent of Chan and Tucker. He's a hired gun....

LA Weekly has revealed the full details of the stars' deals on this film. They're pretty insane.

Chris Tucker gets $20 million upfront, PLUS 20% of the film's total gross.

Jackie Chan's deal isn't much smaller. He's got $15 million upfront and 15% of the film's total gross!

Let's put that in perspective. If this movie performs on the same level as, say, Rush Hour 2, Tucker would walk away with $89.4 million and Chan would have $67.5 million in his pocket.

Studios MAKE MAJOR MOVIES for less money than EACH of those salaries.

Even if the movie only grosses as much as the original Rush Hour, Tucker would still get $68.8 million and Chan would still clear $51.6 million.

This is frickin' NUTS.

Rush Hour 2 (2001) .... Detective James Carter
Rush Hour (1998) .... Detective James Carter

the problem i have with Tucker getting so much money is that he hasn't made any flicks for at least 5 years and, even though he's the main source of comedy, he doesn't do NEARLY as much physical work as Jackie. if Tucker makes a come back and starts making more films or doing something then i wouldn't mind so much...but asking that much when you've been out of the loop for a while is pretty egotistical imo.

It's not like he hasn't gotten offers. He's just stopped wanting to perform, much like Dave Chappelle. The huge success of the Rush Hour franchise made him a highly desired star, and yet, he opted to sit on his ass and drink pina coladas. He even famously declared that he doesn't want to work with ANYONE except Brett Ratner! I guess I can't blame him - if I got $20 million dollars for a movie, I wouldn't have much temptation to keep making them either. I'd just sit back and play video games.

yeah i guess you cant blame him at the same time...

he just obviously prefers sitting on his ass all day than acting.

which is why i don't think he deserves what he's getting paid. only hard-working actors should get paid that kind of dough...
