The Rush Hour movies are in my Top 10 comedies of all-time, because no matter how many times I watch them, they are still hilarious.

RUSH HOUR 3
By Jeff Nathanson
Draft Date: May 22, 2006, 107 pages

Hey, EL MAYIMBE here…

So what’s up?!

Well, nothing ruins my day worse than when I read not a bad, but a corny script.

Even though Jeff Nathanson can write plotlines and action well, pero, my goodness, are the jokes in RUSH HOUR 3 excruciatingly corny! Nathanson has written some of the corniest exchanges I have ever read in a screenplay.

To add insult to injury they dis Latinos hardcore in this movie especially Roselyn Sanchez’s character ISABELLA which I will get to in a minute. I’m surprised Roselyn even agreed to the demeaning, degrading, and offensive handling of her character.

Nena, where is your dignity?

Don’t get me wrong, the script is ok, it’s passable, but it is really hard for me to recommend it when they dis Latinos and the racial jokes between Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are played out and have a been there done that feel like in the last two Rush Hour movies.

What strikes me as odd is that I read an article recently about Brett Ratner in Vanity Fair and how he wants respect. Well, you’re not gonna get respect if you keep doing corny ass movies like Rush Hour 3.

So what is it about? Let’s take a look at the first act.

There is pandemonium at the United Nations Plaza as Protestors protest against the World Crime Summit. At the NYPD briefing room, CAPTAIN HILL has JAMES CARTER fly in and brief the cops on the proper use of non lethal force when faced with a public disturbance.

Corny ass James Carter comes to the podium and gives a demonstration on his boy DEXTER SIMMS.

It is supposed to be funny, but it isn’t.

Anyway, outside the UN, limos arrive. In one limo, CHIEF INSPECTOR LEE rides in AMBASSADOR HAN’S Maybach.

We get some exposition as Han is happy to have been friends with Lee for 20 years now, six years since Lee rescued Han’s daughter SOO YUNG’s life. Han tells Lee to stay close.

Meanwhile, outside Carter pulls over a Lamborghini with two beautiful chicks and gets into a corny flirty exchange with them. Carter then calls Lee to hang out but Lee is depressed over Isabella.

Inciting incident time: Two FBI agents on the rooftop of the U.N. get killed by the Chinese assassin Fang.

At the World Crime Summit on the 54th floor, JULES REYNARD gives a speech about the Chinese Triads and how he is entrusting Ambassador Han to lead the fight against the largest criminal organization in the world.

Ambassador Han speaks and tells us that the Triad society is built on secrecy. Nobody knows who these men are, who controls them, who leads them. Nobody has known for five hundred years. But Han stands before them with a secret of his own. Han believes he has located SHY SHEN – the spirit of death.

Fang repels down outside the U.N. Plaza like some ninja and fires shots at Han shooting him in the chest before he can disclose Shy Shen’s location.

Lee jumps out the window and repels down the assassin’s wire and a chase scene ensues. Of course Fang escapes after the Jackie Chan action sequence chase scene.

We then get our title sequence.

After the title sequence, outside the ICU in a hospital, Lee and Carter run into JERRY WANG of the Chinese embassy. We find out that Han is still alive and survived the assassination attempt.

Wang wants to know how the shooter got away. Han’s daughter Soo Yung arrives. Lee promises Soo Yung he will get the men responsible for her father’s shooting. We find out that three weeks ago, Han left notes for his daughter to contact to Lee in case anything happened to him. Soo Yung left the notes in a locker at a karate studio where she teaches in Chinatown.

Soo Yung gives Lee and Carter the locker key.

Lee and Carter arrive in Chinatown at the studio. They enter and tell MASTER YU they need to access the locker because Lee is looking for Shy Shen.

Yu refuses, says he is in the middle of a class and it is a bad time. Yu says they came and took everything in the locker. Carter doesn’t buy it and thinks Yu is lying.

An eight foot tall LING comes out to defend Yu who feels threatened. Ling and Carter get into it. Fight scene. Lee and Carter make it into the locker room and Yu was telling the truth. The locker is empty. We find out the Triads are going to kill Soo Yung. Carter and Lee race back to the hospital.

Lee and Carter make it back to the hospital to find Han and Soo Yung safe but there is no security detail. Lee looks out the front window and EIGHT CHINESE ASSASSINS pile out of two large SUVs. They are coming for Han.

Three page battle sequence between Lee and Carter vs. Fang and his Chinese assassins. Fang and his assassins fail and make a getaway. One of the French speaking Chinese assassins is left behind.

Later, the French speaking Chinese assassin is interrogated and we find out that Lee and Carter have been marked for death by Shy Shen.

Carter and Lee go to the French consulate to run prints. They run into Jules Reynard. His limo explodes outside the consulate.

We find out later that six French agents have been killed by Shy Shen in Paris in the last two weeks. Lee and Carter decide to go to Paris to find Shy Shen before Shy Shen finds Carter and Lee.

Carter leaves Soo Yung with Dexter in his apartment.

We end act 1 with our offensive CROSSING OF THE FIRST THRESHOLD SCENE with Carter busting Lee’s balls about Isabella. Folks, Carter goes there. He says to Lee something to the corny effect that all Latinos are Mexican and we find out, I am not kidding, that Roselyn Sanchez’s character Isabella works at El Pollo Loco. Yes folks they went there.

Get the **** out of here with that bull****.

I am not kidding folks, here is their spoiler!!! At the end of the movie Lee decides to follow his heart and propose to Isabella so he pulls up to the drive thru window of El Pollo Loco and he proposes to Isabella who says yes.

So let me get this straight, she goes from being a secret service agent in the 2nd film to working at El Pollo Loco in the 3rd film?

Roselyn, tu eres una titera for allowing yourself to get exploited like that. Shame on you nena. No wonder your career is in the toilet. I didn’t find it funny at all. Any self respecting Latina wouldn’t accept a marriage proposal at El Pollo Loco. Que in el carajo es eso.

My fellow Latinos, don’t go see Rush Hour 3. We all work at El Pollo Loco and are all Mexicans trying to get a green card according to Carter. See how corny and plaid out the jokes are? So if they want to dis us, then don’t give them your dollars.

I am not going to see this ****. I gotta get back to my shift at El Pollo Loco.

Nuff said…

HASTA EL PROXIMO CAPITULO…

…YO SOY EL MAYIMBE!

I dunno it seems pretty good, the corny jokes might be come off better with Tucker and Chan delivery (might even improvise), but Sanchez character seems out place from where she was in 2. As for the offensivness, I can't judge till I hear them. There were lots of racial black/ asian jokes in 1 & 2, they just happen to add latino's in the mix with 3.

Are you ****ing serious? I don't follow these script reviews, so is this guy always right? Cause that is some pretty whack **** right there.

Often times scripts are rewritten quite a bit so it depends on the date of the draft really...

I saw the clip. Not bad, I guess...
Also, don't post the damn script review out like that.
Put it in spoiler tags.

I also don't trust script reviews.
I'll wait for the movie to decide if I like what I see. No spoiling for me.

Not reading the review... I want to go into this movie knowing nothing

Its be awhile since i was last excited for a jackie chan movie, since lately he has been doing some pretty dumb ones.

(Carter slaps a guy)

Carter - "What language is he speaking"

Lee - "I think hes speaking French"

Carter - "Your Asian stop humiliating yourself"

"I've never been with an American man before!"
"Neither have I."

That was pretty funny.
