Ryan Reynolds "actively" working on Deadpool spinoff

Yup I did. Reynolds, Blob & Gambit were the best parts of that movie.

I thought Gambit sucked.


He was better at the very end of the movie, but I thought his "intro" per se sucked and his accent was like non-existent

Reynolds name is growing in Hoolywood. Maybe after Green Lantern, he becomes even bigger, like Bale with Batman.
That would probably help Deadpool in some manner. Probably box-office.

Yea but to be honest I don't think Deadpool SHOULD be a big budget, mid summer, box office smash. It would be better as a more modest budget cult hit in the mold of Blade. Reynolds would do Deadpool not for the money or the fame, but simply because he is a fan of the character and has wanted to be him for like nearly a decade.

Me neither.
I think a budget of 70 millions, maybe even less, is enough and would be what it needs to be good.
If it does well at the box-office, like Blade and Wanted, then that's great.

Hey everyone, first post here.

I'm eagerly awaiting the Deadpool film, he's been my favorite since I was able to read comics.

I'll be honest, I wasn't so happy with Deadpool in Wolverine (or really happy with that film at all .. ) I liked what Ryan was able to do with Wade, and yes, I got the joke about him having his mouth sewn up at the end, Mouthless merc and all .. Meh. I don't know. I guess I just didn't like seeing Deadpool used as a freakin' robot.

I'll just be happy to see what I think of as the actual merc with a mouth in his own film, I get that he wasn't able to be his typical goofy forth-wall breaking self in a Wolverine movie, I'm glad there was at least a hint of it in the hidden "weapon ix" ending.

I hope in a Deadpool film that his suit will look cool. It's gonna be weird for me seeing a guy go from Green Lantern to Deadpool though Lol. If Wade is portrayed anything like how he was in Hulk Vs. Wolverine, I know it'll be enjoyable. I modeled my own Deadpool costume after that version, because I'm glad for the first time a non-uber-buff guy like me could fit into the red and black without looking like another skinny nerd out of place.

I don't get around to checking updates online too often, but hopefully there will be some good updates on the film here soon! I'm sure there will be production pics when this gets started, I'll have to keep checking back now to see when we can get a glimpse of the merc with a mouth.

Yea I'm pretty sure no Deadpool fans were really happy with his treatment in Wolverine. But if I'm honest, I think the route they took did fit in with that particular story, but it was still a travesty that it was our boy DP who had to take the fall.

But if what Reynolds was banging on about in all those interviews is true, we'll see the REAL Deadpool on the big screen. When that will be is anyones guess though. I've always thought it won't be anytime before 2012, regardless of Green Lantern. Let's just hope they take their time with the script (not too much though!) and nail the character. The self loathing, the world loathing, the sarcastic, acerbic attitude and of course the fourth wall breaking.

Deadpool seems like a cheap movie anyway. It wouldnt take that long to make. He really has no huge expensive CGI characters to fight....it could be a cheap, fun comedy. All the more reason to hire the Crank guys.

agreed. add some good explosions, some creative death scenes and this movie could be fantastic. The only CGI necessary will be his regenerative factor, because they simply have to show off just how extraordinary his regeneration is. I would actually love it if they somehow incorporated him "dying" and all that was left was his hand giving the finger (which he later reformed from) haha Very far fetched, but very classic in my eyes (Deadpool 'Nuff Said issue"

I would expect for the movie to have at least a 100 million dollar budget. I mean, big budget doesn't necessarily mean CGI fest. But I'd like to have "Deadpool" to have a distinct visual style, and great production & costume design, make-up effects, practical effects, etc.

You know, my biggest fear is that - even if they nail the character - the movie is going to be quite bland and generic visually. I wouldn't like that... at all.

But, first of all, I don't really like the producer involved. Lauren Shuler Donner doesn't really seem like she knows what she's doing, y'know?

But that's the problem with FOX. They don't have any "top producers" on board, and they won't hire "major" directors for their movies. Instead, they hire puppies like Brett Ratner, Shawn Levy, Len Wiseman, John Moore, Gavin Hood, etc. - all directors whose work can be micro-managed by FOX.

I'd like some actual TALENT to be involved in the "Deadpool" movie, rather than some dorks who deliver a "fast-food blockbuster."

And Rodriguez does work with Fox, he'd be perfect for Deadpool.

But 100 million? Na man, I doubt it. And I don't think it has to be that much to still be visually interesting and unique. I think 60-80 million would be okay for Deadpool.

And remember, the smaller the budget, the more likely it will be rated r and true to the real Deadpool. You start throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at it and the execs will start to get wary. That's when they make the creative talent ie. director, producers compromise. The execs are in the business of making money first and foremost. They won't want another Watchmen, which I thought was a great film personally, but the masses didn't.

You make it big budget then it HAS to appeal to a wider demographic. You keep the budget modest and aim the film as more of a cult hit like Blade, then the execs won't have to worry about losing so much money.

Well I thought Daredevil was pretty decent to be fair. I mean, it was VERY accurate to the source material, had a all star cast (Affleck, Farrell, Garner, Clarke Duncan, Pantoliano) and some really great fight scenes. I mean, that bar room brawl pisses all over anything in the likes of TDK IMO.

There was some crappy things like the playground fight but overall I think Daredevil is a very underrated movie. It changed some things around but the real essence of the character and his origin was spot on. And people say Fox movies scrap the source material all the time...

I just saw Hard Boiled for the first time after hearing on various different movie sites and lists that it's a classic action film.

I thought the action was awesome and exciting, it would be great to see a Deadpool movie like Hard Boiled.

Yea the action is stylized but still quite gritty and "realistic" for lack of a better term.

The shoot-out in the hospital at the end is one of THE classic actions scenes.

I agree with this. I don't like Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, or even Colin Farrell too much. That being said, I really didnt even want to see the movie, but I eventually watched it and I liked it, despite the odd casting. I heard the directors cut makes the movie a lot better also.
