Rza to direct the Man With The Iron Fist?

This looks like some ridiculous fun. It looks like a mashup of Kill Bill, Enter the Dragon, Mortal Kombat, Big Trouble in Little China and A Fistful of Dollars.

And a couple of porn films I don't know the names of.

Saw the trailer yesterday, first thought was asian Kill Bill. Looks like some crazy fun though, definitely gonna check it out.

Saw this before Expendables 2 and it looks pretty bad ass!

Loved the trailer. Also, to me, the Brass Body effect the do on Dave Batista looks better than X-Men on Colossus.

It looks like a very, very, very poor man's KillBill. Thanks but no thanks.

^ It's pretty much exploitation of every stereotype you can think of, which is why it's awesome.

:awesome:

A batch of new images from director RZA’s The Man with the Iron Fists has landed online. Produced by Quentin Tarantino and written by RZA and Eli Roth, the film takes place in feudal China and centers on a small village’s weapon-maker who must defend its peoples. We’ve already seen two trailers that promise some crazy violence, and these images don’t disappoint. I’m eager to see this fairy tale-like genre mash-up not only because of the caliber of talent behind the scenes, but also because of the eclectic cast RZA has gathered onscreen: Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Pam Grier, David Bautista, and Rick Yune.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Jamie Chung, Cung Le, Daniel Wu, and Byron Mann. The Man with the Iron Fists opens on November 2nd.
Here’s the synopsis for The Man with the Iron Fists:
Quentin Tarantino presents The Man With the Iron Fists, an action-adventure inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA—alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu—tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA embarks upon his most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.

I heard there was a 4 hour cut of the film, I don't know how they cut it down to 96 mins but the movie on a whole looks awesome. I can't wait to see it.

6th of December in Australia. Which means it'll still be screening Christmas day. Win.

... that doesn't make sense.

Is the film anything more than the trailer is showing? It just looks like watching someone play Mortal Kombat. There's gotta be more to it.

Just watched the trailer for the first time. Hooooly ****.

Coz he's not a typical rap artist. Ever hear of the Wu-Tang Clan?

The RZA's conceptual approach to the Wu-Tang clan was unprecedented to most in the hip-hop community, and we've yet to see anything like it since (the only sketchy comparison I'd dare to make would probably be the Odd Future camp). There's a certain philosophical dynamic to everything he does whether it's music or any other endeavor he chooses. The man wears his influences on his sleeve and has incorporated them in a lot of inventive ways. There are times when I think he should really stop rapping, but on the whole, he's still considered to be one of the best hip-hop producers ever, and a remarkably creative individual.

i was aware that he was part of wu-tang, but iv never been a rap fan so i'm not familiar with their music. i know i got some eye rolls for asking the question but like i said im ignorant to rap and all iv seen anytime anyone known for music is a part of a movie nerds usually rage.

thanks for the explanation. has he done anything like film before? actually i guess i can just check imdb.

When I first saw Lucy Liu in the trailer, I thought she was Gong Li or Michelle Yeoh. And no, it's not the usual Western stereotype of 'all Asian people look the same' -- I really thought it was one of those two actresses.

Looks like it could be pulpy, Grindhouse-style fun.
