It looked to me like Hammer looked up at Tony and wanted to be pals with him, to enter the cool club, rather than destroy him. He only turned against Tony after he had dissed him numerous times.
I know they are business rivals, but Tony could have kept the pretenses and smiled through his teeth. Instead he was very very rude and arrogant.
I really didn't like Hammer in the Movie. Sam is a great actor and I would've loved to see his performance as a more competent and menacing competitor and not just simply playing a loser version of Tony Stark.
t:. He played along well, I agree w/ the post tho about the annoying version of Stark to quick and succesful to be such the chump, but he was just the backer. I enjoyed his role, ill look for him in upcoming movies. He didn't seem like much of a mastermind though.
Who said he was supposed to be a "mastermind"? He was an arms dealer. Cocky, yet insecure at the same time. He had me cracking up the whole movie.
Did Hammer swearing he'll get revenge against Pepper for putting him away smelled like sequel hook to anyone else?

I loved his explanation for "the ex-wife"
I was cracking up when he mentions something about the missle writing a book...then it will read it to you too.![]()
I think Hammer could be a great villain for IM3. Played less for comic relief and more rage and villainy.
