Say good bye to the one dollar bill.

Coins are much better for all the reasons as listed in the article. We used to have the two dollar bill when i was little in Canada, and im really glad they got rid of it.

:hyper:

I don't want to carry around 50 $1 coins, that's too damn heavy.

This is the government's fourth attempt to move American spenders from dollar bills to dollar coins, after three flops that satisfied nobody but coin collectors.

It's cheaper than replacing all these bills every few years. Plus all of the last coins sucked, who needs a Feminist, a Indian guide or a coin the size of a small town?

Worthless...

I thought you hated repeat threads. Hypocrite. :cmad:

Hey, I've got all of the 3 older dollar coins around the house somewhere..

There are so many countries that are using dollar or dollar equivalent coins...I wouldn't mind if they tried to do it again...I'm a casual coin collector so I'd just have something new to put into my little book..

It failed because the public was offered an option. The only reason the american public is so attached to the bill is because it's all they've ever really known. Quit making the bills and people will get used to the coins and they will quit griping about it. Carrying around a dollar coin isn't the nuisance people think it will be.

They need to get rid of pennies while they're at it too.

And soon the polar bears will be all dead like the Queen, Canadian Prime Ministers and American Presidents.

Noooooooo I don't want more change to carry around, I never use it in the first place!

yay...more coins. they need to hurry up and implant a smart chip in my arm so i don't have to carry money around.

Can't say I'd like the paper dollar to be replaced. Coins get too cumbersome a lot. I barely ever use nickels and dimes anymore and I never use pennies. Pennies are useless. Prices should be in multiples of five.

America's population could just be too big for the dollar coin to be accepted. Canada had over 26 million when the $1 (Loonie) coin was introduced and they slowly phased out the $1 bill and close to 30 million when the $2 (Tooine) coin was put in circulation. Now 300 million+ Americans are supposed to accept the $1 coin?

Yeah,...when will they be destroying the pennies?

If they phase out the dollar bill, I'm gonna start asking my bank to cash my paychecks in $2 bills.

well if they do get rid of the bill it will be easyer to use the pop machine
