So i think we've gathered the transformers managed to duplicate themselves because they scan a certain vehicle and take up their form.

my question is, Is there any sort of size requirement of this vehicle that needs to be accounted for?

like if they were to scan my computer, would they be able to change into a large version of my computer?

if this is the case, couldn't megatron still turn himself into some sort of larger cannon/bazooka based weapon in the future?

like a bigger version of this

I'd rather megatron to scan an F117. So he can at least kick starscream's ass.

I don't think anyone would of made the movie with Megs turning into a gun or even a canon: The general audience would not of bought it (Only the fans would of appriciated).

More logical would of been having Magatron turn into a tank (Since he never did have a flying vehicular mode).

What's not to buy?

besides, none of you have really addressed the question if smaller objects can be scanned and duplicated in a larger size or if some sort of scale is required for it to be legit

The producer guy said "no mass shifting".

can't scale the scanned object, cause that's gonna look wierd in the real world.

only if rick moranis shoots it with his shrink/growth ray

nah, tank doesn't work for me. megatron being a tank will be easily handled and played by starscream who always wants to.

I think a jet is still the best option, and F117 looks fierce enough to fit megatron to me.

when i mean scale i mean something along the lines of this?

do i physically have to be the size of something to scan it and transform into it or can i scan a small object and become a me sized version of it

not a

can i scan a toaster and shrink down to toaster size.

this is regardless of whether it looks weird or not. For megatron it's not for the purpose of trying to blend in, rather to try and become a formidable weapon of mass destruction, which one can assume to be via scaling up a dangerous weapon to his size when he transforms.

From what I could tell from the comics and previews they scan vehicles that are big enough for them to transform into, basicly Prime couldn't turn into a Camaro and vice-versa.

well, personally I can accept that megatron fold himself into something smaller or expand into something bigger, but not too much the difference.

are you sure about this?

is there like a scene in the film that explains this?

I believe today's CGI can just do anything. So as long as ILM make the transformation believable / realistic enough, general audience will buy it.

I remember seeing a tv commercial, the whole house folds into one small mobile phone, and CGI effect is perfect, that's kind of cool too.

I think you are talking about making the scanned object the same size as the thing that scanned it right? Well I am not aware that they can do this, they have to shrink down to the size of the scanned vehicle or object.

hmmmm....

shame...

The Answer to your question is no there is no size requirement....

the robots "could" scan anything they want...
but when they transform into that object they will retain there original "mass"

Hence the no mass shifting reply

So as you said.. you could scan a toaster and transform into a that toaster,

BUT, the toaster would be human sized...
and when your a robot "in disguise"... a Massive toaster doesnt exactly blend in!

I assume this is the case anyway...

Robots choose something, (taking their own mass into consideration) they can transform into and still blend into their environment!

that makes great sense. So F117 for megatron. :woot:
