We all love our master of fear Scarecrow, but one thing has made me wonder from Green Lantern #26... Should Scarecrow receive a buff up to become more indimating foe? Now yes we all know Super powered heroes aren't really Batman's thing but he eats punks for breakfest! Even Morrison has stated that Batman needs more them *normal* criminals to face, but larger than life foes to match Bruce-Batman (And yeah Grayson too now).

So should the master of fear receive a Sinestro corp's yellow ring? Should he remain as a pure Batman villain whos just super-powered or should he become a more global threat to the DC Universe? Should he be a Sinestro Corp member or should the writers try to find away to give him a Yellow Lantern Ring but remain unloyal to to Sinestro's corps? Or is this suggestion just pure garbage? =p

Doing that is like giving the Joker God-powers; yeah, it's pretty cool for a story arc or two, but pretty soon he's gonna revert back to his classic form just because that's what people like.

But yeah, for a story arc or two, it'd be perfectly cool for Scarecrow to have a ring.

I concur with CConn.

Though I do think it would be fun if someone like the Joker was a semi-permanent member of the Corps (similar to the way Batman's part of the JLA). It could be a lot of fun to have someone that looney with that much power on a regular basis.

They might just continue giving rings to new characters and family of characters

in this case, joker should have gotten one too.
I don't remember who said the quote, but "when villains want to scare each other, they tell joker stories"

He should of got it, atleast for a couple of real-time years. Unfortunately when it comes down to it most comic writers are cowards and would rather tell the same generic Batman stories over and over rather than something like that. Seriously, how awesome would it have been if Batman had to take on a powered Scarecrow who could create any monstrosity he imagined? But nah, apparently Batman only fights insane villains, hence why all the new ones created are all like that, rather than something fresh. The powered villains like Clayface and Freeze rarely appear at all, despite being portrayed so well in the animated series. A big opportunity missed really.

Actually, this is probably why I like the animated series of comics far more. Lex Luthor merging with Brainiac made for a fantastic story, and a far better example is Slad from Teen Titans being resurrected from the dead by Trigon with all the powers of hell. That was awesome, served for a fantastic storyline and he went back to normal too. Why can't comic writers do that?

Agreed. Although it would be impossible for Batman to fight someone with a lantern ring. So this would only make sense if Scarecrow becomes a universal threat.

What the hell are these people doing with lantern rings? What the hell is this ****?

I couldnt agree more.

It's Geoff Johns showing that the heroes of a awesome event don't need to be A-list heroes such as Batman or Superman. (yeha i know it has Wondy and Hal) But the saviours can be villains and D-listers! It's awesome! :awesome:

This is supposed to be a Green Lantern major event. All the lantern corps except for orange have numerous members and yet most of them have become black lanterns. So you mean to tell me that random ***hats serve as untrained lanterns for each of the corps and will somehow save the universe when all the corps together failed? Where did they find these people? Did they draw cards from a big bowl? Because WW being a love lantern doesnt make sense. And who's the indian guy?

This is where it gets ridiculous. This should have been about everyone doing the best they can with the Lanterns giving the final blow. This **** is ******ed imho.

Also: WW in a ****ish pink lantern suit. Love =/= Lust.

Actually the main reason they REMOVED "Green Lantern: Blackest Night" the Green Lantern tag is because it's a DC EVENT. You can argue how much you want but fact is this event is the whole DC universe.

The Lanterns had to recruit 1 extra Lantern for 24 hours because the Black Lantern Core Battery wasn't getting destroyed with just Hal & Co, so yeah they needed extra help and Mera, Atom, Flash and Hal we're the central characters of this event and now Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman and Scarecrow join in pretty much.

Yeah Wonder Woman's costume can represent lust lol, but believe me she loves the planet more than anyone but yeah i can agree with the costume, but still the heroes are now forced to face Nekron, Black Hand AND Black Lantern Superman, Superboy, Supergirl, Green Arrow, Dove, Black Canary and so on... There still the underdogs here.

Its just that they feel out of place. Lets see:

1) From what we know, a new Lantern needs extensive training to be able to use the ring effectively, but hell, Lex ****ing Luthor, Scarecrow and Diana will be just as good as the veteran lanterns.
2) Each corps has members in the hundreds but most of them failed. And for some reason the leaders of each corps thought that it would be a good idea to team up with each other without bringing along all the lanterns that are left. This is the mother of all plot holes, but hey who doesnt wanna see Hal team up with Larfleeze, Sinestro and Atrocitus?

And i didnt mean that WW doesnt feel love, but its not the sentiment that first comes to mind when you think of her.

1) We don't know how powerful Scarecrow or the others will be. It's an act of desperation to win the day and there doing anything they can to destroy the Black Lantern Core Battery. Indigo-1 said it's going to take hours from her clan to come and assist, so Ganthet actived the 24-hour ring-copy so they can hopefully save the day.

2) Theres Green Lanterns, Sinestro Lanterns, Red Lanterns and Indigo Tribe people fightning in space, this plot is what the Green Lantern Corp monthly title is pretty much about. There pretty much protecting the Core Battery of Green Lantern and other Lanterns while the main heroes are on earth.

1) How powerful can they be when every lantern has to go through extensive training to be able to use the ring effectively? Am i supposed to buy that these guys will be awesome right off the bat? As a desperate measure its acceptable but if these guys end up saving the day when hundreds of veteran Lanterns failed.... well...
2) So all the other lanterns are conveniently away so that the leaders of each corps can team up? And so that they'd have to give a ring to Lex out of desperation? Couldnt they have a small squad of each corps with them? Last time i checked Sinestro had ordered his lanterns to camp at a planet and await his orders while he assessed the situation with Hal and the others.
That is just convenient plotting so that the leaders team up and Johns can give a ring to WW, Lex and a ****ing indian out of nowhere.

1) Again we don't know how awesome or not they will be. I'll tell ya next week when the latest Green Lantern issue comes. Also hundreds of veterans have failed? It's the main Lanterns (Hal, Indigo-1, Ganthet, Larfleeze, Sinestro, Atrocitus, Saint Walker, Carol Ferris) who are requesting backup, but it's going to take hours for the backup to arrive. So Ganthet actives the main Lanterns ring to duplicate for 24 hours.

2) It's not the persons who chose who is worthy of the ring. The duplicate rings chose the most greediest, raging, fearsome, loving, willing, compassionaite and hoping member on Earth who happened to be alive. Also yeah they could have had a small squad but guess what? Fictional characters do mistakes. And again with Sinestro and his lanterns. I'd take time for the backup to arrive, and who would protect the Sinestro Lantern core?

1) I have only read bits and pieces if BN so that explains my misunderstanding. Still, the darkest hour for the Lanterns dawns, enough for them to sign a forced truce, the source of evil is on earth and what do they do? They go it alone. The leaders of each corps along with Guy, Kyle and the Guardians. In other words this book conveniently ignores the other lanterns so that the protagonists (Hal, Guy and Kyle along with the newly introduced leaders of the other corps) take the spotlight, which is an issue that always bugged me. I have no problems with the book focusing on Hal, but when its a universal event, an army of lanterns should handle it.

2) Do the Yellow Lanterns have a huge battery like the GLs? That would be the only thing worth protecting, and still, what's the point of a corps when 99% of it guards the base? At least 80% of their forces should be out there battling the Black Lanterns.

1) Well who knows what will truly happen in #7 and #8? Right now the Army of Lanterns are fightning in space, which is really what Green Lantern Corps comic has been about during Blackest Night event.

2) If the Core Battery is destroyed. All Yellow Lanterns would lose their source of power and it's game over. The Black Lanterns are pretty much attacking these Core batteries so there is much fightning going on, because there trying to devour the emotion from the batteries.

it's kinda cool that Scarecrow's mask was influenced by the mask from the Nolan's Bat films.

Well GL#50 showed that Scarecrow was pretty much just running loose. He was able to create alot of constructs (Crows) but the guy was pretty much having the ring control him. He was in full fear and loving the emotion. The only thing he managed to do really focused was 1 attack on Spectre... So i'd say these new recruits are just Dogs withouth a leash really. Hell Hal Jordan even demands the rings out of Scarecrow and Lex Luthor because there running wildly loose almost.
