Hi guys! I'm a HUGE fan of the Green Lantern, particularly the greatest one of them all, Hal Jordan. I know he's got a live action movie in the works, but I was wondering what you guys would think about a live action, hour long GL TV show? I think it would be pretty sweet, especially with all the great SFX sci fi shows have these days. I could even see a couple of comic book writers like Geoff Johns getting a chance to write an episode, which would be undeniabley cool.

Anyway. Here's an short outline of what I'd like to see take place in each season of the show (providing it gets 5 seasons):

Season 1: Origin of HJGL. Dying alien GL Abin Sur gives brave test pilot Hal Jordan his GL power ring to replace him in sector 2814, Hal becomes the GL and fights crime, knows little about the Gaurdians at the moment. End season 1, Sinestro comes to train Hal.

Season 2: Sinestro trains Hal, Hal exposes Sinestro's tyrantical ruling of Kuragar to the Gaurdians, Sinestro goes renegade and gets his yellow ring from Qward. Also, Weaponers of Qward, Kilowog, and the rest of the GL corps and the Gaurdians are introduced. Sinestro becomes Hal's greatest nemesis.

Season 3: Star Saphire, Black Hand, and the Manhunters are introduced. Hal Jordan meets Barry Allen/Flash and becomes best friends with him. Hal and Carol ferris get serious with each other.

Season 4: Polaris, Fatality, John Stewart (and/or Guy Gardner) are introduced. Hal meets hot head Ollie Queen/Green Arrow.
Also, thru an accident Hal Jordan discovers the alternate reality known as "Earth 2" and meets its GL, Alan Scott.

Season 5: Sinestro forms his Sinestro corps. BIG BATTLES between the Sinestro Corps and the GL Corps. Last episode of Season 5, young artist Kyle Rayner is introduced and made a member of the GL Corps.

ALSO: The GL Oath must be used. It should be like a "password" that allows the GLs to recharge their rings (the rings ONLY recharge if a member of the corps says it before recharging their ring). Every member of the corps knows the oath, which goes like:

"In brightest day,

In blackest night,

No evil shall escape my site,

Let those who worship evil's might,

Beware my power,

Green Lantern's light!"

^That's just a rough outlining of what I'd love to see in a live action GL TV series.

Feel free to add to it and/or post your ideas on what a GL TV show should be like!

Also, artwork, who you think should be cast (an unknown, someone familiar, etc) , costume ideas, etc are encouraged.

"Light 'em up!"

I say, you make it like a Cop Show. Hill Street Blues on Oa. Put the whole Corp in there and pay good, cheap actors to form a character piece.

Would be great!

:gl: :gl: :gl:

Its too bad theres no network for it.

It would never fly on the CW unless its a teen drama.

Yeah. good point. What network WOULD put this show on? I know Sci Fi would eventually, but I think it should premiere on a more local channel. Maybe FX would eventually?

I Could live with that.

But a TV series season has 13 episodes. Do whe need all this to Hal get to Oa and meet Sinestro?

Hmm. Good points there. I guess we could speed that up to maybe half season 1 (epidode 6 or 7)..... What do you think?

too bad shows don't have 26 episodes like they used to....

actually most live action shows on things go from anywhere between 18-23/26 episodes per seasons.

yea live action shows it just counts on how many episodes a network/studio will commit to for said show. As i said most on average have between 18-26 episodes. Some more some less. As for cartoons they are the ones who get around 13 episodes nowadays unlike in the past where it like 26 episodes.

And this thread should be moved to justice league world section since this doesnt really have anything to do with the jla film. So a mod should move it.

hey, thanks, man.

I noticed that seasons 1 and 2 of the JL show are made up of 26 episodes but season 5 of it or season 2 of JLU are only....13? Dissapointing....:csad:

yea i did hate the jlu seasons got crapped out on episode counts and CN kept delaying airings and all that.

Yea wish it didnt end, Sucks when it ended cause it also ended the bruce timm dcau universe.

Now as i said we should get a mod to move this over to the justice league world section since this doesnt really have anything to do with the jla film.

Yeah. the Timmiverse, even tho it didn't get the Flash and Green Lantern right, was really EXCELLENT, IMO.

So if you move this thread, will it be just like a new thread over there??

END OF SEASON 1.

Special effects aren't cheap enough for a live action GL 13 or 22 episode series.

They'll need more then a million for each episode for it to work.

It'd work better as a series of 3 to 6 episode mini-series on HBO or Showtime.

They should get Geoff Johns as a creative consultant/writer.

yea like how smallville had jeff loeb for awhile during seasons 2-4 was it. And talking about budget yea it would cost alot to do superhero shows, look at smallville for example its got craped out on budget all the time and we are lucky it looks alright on the budget they have for it.

Damn...that was good! :word: I liked it a lot mostly except for Hal being accused of killing Abin.

Smallville doesn't have the scope GL does.

It doesn't even do a good job adapting the DCU.

Ron Moore or Joss Whedon are the perfect show-runners for this.

It'd need 10 million an episode at the very least.

Kellel:

Episodes can have more then one word in titles.

I agree about Johns.

But I think the show would really fly if it was heavily promoted on local stations as a cool, sci fi flick. Something that adults AND kids will be interested in too (not saying to make it "kiddie porn"). Stuff that people would watch over a movie.

A GL TV show has to be HUGE, larger than life. "cinematic" even. Ahead of its time if ya know what i mean.

Not necessarily. If you make some of the episodes drama heavy. You could use minimum green lantern effects. Simple green flashes and such. Could be great and still keep the cost down a bit.

Yeah, like I said, GL has to be HUGE. Like nothing we've seen before, it can't be another mediocre type show, "scaled down for TV". Uh uh. When you do something like that the show is ALWAYS lower in quality and leaves people wanting....it's GOT to be breath taking. Timeless...

and you mean protocida. :woot:

Not possible with today's special effects. The budget is a huge road block here.

WB would want to keep the risks at a minimum. It'd need a show-runner smart enough to appease the higher ups while simultaneously providing quality entertainment that anyone could get into. Anything less and they'll turn it into Smallville. :(

A GL TV show has to be HUGE, larger than life. "cinematic" even. Ahead of its time if ya know what i mean.

Which won't be done on the usual networks. Sci-Fi is possible cable channel with Galactica but it requires a huge commitment from WB. The best bet are premium channels like HBO. They aren't afraid of shows getting gritty or chickening out to appeal to the kiddies.

Kellel:

Sorry protocida.

Don't try to control me! :cmad:

A Few things:

. Hal is the first human on corps. So, they don't trust him. That's why he is accused of killing Abin and is bashed by the other Lanterns, specially Chummuck.

. I Mix the classic and the modern age GL Supporting cast, and got a little romantic tension to shake things up.

. Hal is supposed to be someone, at the same time, amused by everything that happened and scared by everything that happened. But corageus at large.

. Gabriel Michaels and the CIA will have their own subplot, and will be responsable by one of GL greatest foes.
