Sci-Fi original movies, WTF?

I still miss seeing MST3K on Sci-Fi. :csad:

Sci-Fi is somehow like Russia, 20 years behind everyone else on the planet.

They do sometimes. Like every channel they pay to get the rights to air a movie for a few years(Splinter, Dungen and Dragons), and sometimes people come to them with movies(RHI productions) and other times they pay people to make movies(The Asylum made Megafault for them)

Yep.

Splinter though has good reviews from horror websites, I think.

Dungen and Dragons. Remember eating some Dominos when it debut. Actually was on for 2 AND 1/2 hours. Showed the entire movie with breaks. The replays are just 2 hours though. :o movie looked nice with nice CGI, but still went 'Zzzzzzzzzzz'.

Sometimes they fact out get movies that were not made for Sci-Fi Channel. Highlander: The Source (blame LGF and the producers for how it turned out) Man-Thing, that one Eliza Dusku horror movie rip off of Final Destination (delayed for 2 or 3 years it was before debuting on tv)

I stopped watching Sci-Fi, or as it's now know as SyFy, about ten years ago. Once everything started to show low budget and poor everything else, I just stopped going to that channel. Trust me, back in the day, Sci-Fi was the bomb. They would show stuff that was just interesting...but of course, most of it was former HBO shows that were edited and such, but nontheless, it was great because I didn't have HBO. And maybe once or twice a year they'd have an original movie that was decent, but now they have so many of them and their budget it thin on the board to have them all.

I still like it when I flip though the guide and see an actual non-sci-fi-original film or series on, then I'll stop and watch it. Even if the movie is a low-budget STV film, as long as it wasn't a sci-fi original, I might watch it.

And someone spoke of Thor being on the other night, I stopped and watched two minutes of it...felt depressed...then felt angry that I had turned to see THOR (yah know, because he's kickass in the comics) but I didn't see Thor at all. I saw piss poor costumes, a couple guys with wolf mask on their heads, some waitress actresses and a the worst editing/directing I've seen in a long time. After a two-minute interest of this film, I turned the channel. I know some would complain about someone only watching two minutes of a film and not seeing the whole picture to base an opinion on...but I DIDN'T NEED TO SEE MORE....That film looked horrible and I couldn't stand what I was seeing.

Now when it's a non-original show or movie on the channel, I'll watch it. How else was I going to see SAW 2,3 and 4? I wasn't going to spend money to rent those films. lol But the channel does show the Twilight Zone. I'm so out of the loop on the channel these days...I don't know what else they show that wasn't produced by them. I remember the show MoNStErs, Amazing Stories, Tales from the Crypt, Dark Shadows, Tales from the Dark Side (they still show that)...and those were all great to see on this channel...but the stuff on it now, gag me with a rusty spoon please.
