A co worker was trying to register to post this, but he couldn't for some reason. So he showed it to me and I figured why not...

According to the Cult Awareness Network, no group prompts more telephone pleas for help than does Scientology. Says Cynthia Kisser, the network's Chicago-based executive director

"Scientology is quite likely the most ruthless, the most classically terroristic, the most litigious and the most lucrative cult the country has ever seen. No cult extracts more money from its members."

Agrees Vicki Aznaran, who was one of Scientology's six key leaders until she bolted from the church in 1987: "This is a criminal organization, day in and day out. It makes Jim and Tammy ((Bakker)) look like kindergarten."

In what way? Their websites have been attacked, brought down, and are now back up only because the group has switched now to infiltrating the church and leaking secret documents which can be found all over the web.

If you only click one this, click this video I suppose, it has full references, as to the wikipedia articles.

I was surprised to find out Beck was a Scientologist. He seems like the opposite of that which would be part of the "celebrity religion"

Seinfeld left it and then made fun of it on his show (the parking garage episode).

of all the religions, Scientology is the weirdest one to me.
just because it all happened in the last century, so you can actually verify that it's not true.
why people continue bothering with it? beyond me completely.

Why do so many people care?

Threads like this popping up once or twice a day is the best way to end Scientology.[/sarcasm]

Very true. But it goes for the media too. I mean, I'm getting to feel sorry for Tom Cruise at this point (not really). All this attention the church is getting isn't a good thing in the sense that, it's bringing attention to the church. Somewhere some kid is going, "Well if Will Smith is part of it, it really can't be that bad, he funny!".

also, while that Unfunny Truth about Scientology thing is a chilling piece of reporting, it really need to show me what horrible things Scientology has done in recent years.

good point, for the most part, the "unfunny truth" thing does little for me, as any religion has done wacky and or wackier stuff. their views on Psychology disturb me though.

Do some research and find out why. Then, write a book, and watch it sell millions of copies.
