Scrubs: Season 8 on a new network

Zach confirms he will be in the first 6 episodes:

To clear up the confusion:
Scrubs will be coming back, but in a new incarnation. Scrubs as we've all known it is over. That chapter is closed. But as there are so many fans of the characters and writing of the show worldwide, the powers that be have decided to try and keep them alive a little longer (in the spirit of "Frasier" being a new chapter of "Cheers".)

I will be in the first 6 episodes of this new incarnation to help transition the show into what it will become. And then I will be off to work on some new projects that I'm very excited about/ write my new movie/continue to learn how to fly airplanes. :)) As to what the new show is? That's only clear in the mind of Bill Lawrence at this time.

I know many of you will have very strong opinions on this topic. And I respect them all. But first and foremost, if any of you were in a position to put about 200 people whom you really loved back to work in this economy, you would do it in a second. That has always been in the back of Bill's and my mind; we just didn't imagine ABC would ever give us the opportunity to keep it going.

If anyone can find an interesting new shape for the show it's Bill. Don't hate it until you see what he comes up with. Once its up and going there will be plenty of time for you to decide whether you love it or hate it.

Hope this clarifies a few things. That's all the info there is on that right now... I hope this finds you smiling,
love,
zb

I can understand their decision. I wouldn't want to be the one to put 200 people out of work just because I wanted to end a show on a high note...

I really hope that nothing that happens in the coming season dispels the ending of the finale as a possibile (or likely) future.

Also in that article:

However, Lawrence adds, "If it goes my way, and we'll see if I win this battle, when it, the credits at the beginning, when it says Scrubs, you know, at the end, it'll then flash again and it'll say Med School."

I really want the title to be different, even if only slightly. Scrubs ended with season 8, as far as I'm concerned. I'd be happy if season 9 was retitled Scrubs: Med School.

Totally agree. When is this season supposed to start?

I really hope the title will be different, just to make it different from the previous serious and not make it one whole series. This should count as a spinoff.

Hey guys, Imdb has listed the first episode for September 2009, and yet we are October and nothing. Any news?

Isn't it supposed to be a mid-season show?

If it's a mid-season show, expect to see the season premier in the Spring.

Last season started in January.

here are some big spoilers for next season

[SPOILER ALERT: Do not read this article if you don't want to know how Scrubs will change this season.]
When Scrubs returns, Elliot will be expecting, according to Sarah Chalke.
Scrubs' next season heads for the classroom
Scrubs executive producer Bill Lawrence decided to write Chalke's real-life pregnancy into the story line. "It's kind of a time cut into the future, so J.D. and I are already married and pregnant with our first kid," Chalke tells Hollywood 411's Marc Istook Tuesday.
Chalke, whose due date is Dec. 25, is happy about Lawrence's decision. "Bill was very generous to write it in, so I'm not, like, carrying a giant chart or something in front of my belly all the time," she says.

"I'm going to do a bunch [of episodes] until this baby gets too big for me to go to work anymore," she says. She adds that Zach Braff is also on board for the first six episodes; John C. McGinley and Donald Faison will be series regulars on the rebooted Scrubs, which returns to ABC in January.

Yeah, I remember hearing somewhere that [blackout]Elliot would be pregnant this season.[/blackout]

wow! that's earlier than I expected. Can't wait!

*crosses fingers*

New theme song, new theme song, new theme song...

definitely gonna give this a try...

Glad to see Dr. Cox and Turk coming back at least.

I know that J.D. will be in the first six episodes, but that's it? We'll never see him again? Him being Turk's best friend, you'd expect to see him pop up every now and then. And what's the news on Carla, The Janitor, and Kelso returning (if any)?

I, too, will give this "new" series a shot, but I don't know what to expect. It could go either way, really.
