SDCC Hall H Predictions?

I was always a stubborn DC fan growing up, but Marvel's string of well-executed and faithful movies has converted me. This is the first SDCC where I've been more excited about the Marvel announcements.

In my decade or so of being involved in the online discussion of superhero movies, this might be the first time I've ever seen someone say, "I'm a fan of company A but prefer the movies made by company B". Glad you've been digging what Marvel's been doing.

I grew up not knowing or caring about the rivalry or differences between Marvel and DC but always loved Spider-man. In that respect I'm more of a Marvel guy, but I also grew up reading Superman and Batman and Green Lantern. So generally speaking, I love good superhero stories - it just so happens that only one studio is consistently giving me what I want. Fox and WB have done really good things in the past (TDK is undoubtedly the crown jewel of the genre, I watch it on a regular basis) but Marvel's just on another level. It's crazy to think about how big the MCU is, how well all of it has been recieved, and how much more awesome stuff we're getting. It's an awesome time to be a fan, hope you enjoy everything that's coming

I'm worried you guys are setting yourself up for major disappointment.

Maybe so, but setting myself up is SO much fun. It's like playing the lottery. The build up is fun and if you win, it's a WOW.

So is this thread going to act as a discussion thread for the panel or are we just taking it to the separate movies sections? Might be nice to keep everything in the one thread whilst the panel happens, but who knows

I think it makes sense to keep it here for today.

Yeah, if I'm back in time for it I'll probably camp in this thread.

The panel is going to be an hour, right? Will they be able to have time to do Guardians, Thor, Spider-Man, Infinity War, and possibly Fantastic Four?

so is anyone livestreaming it? lol

I think people will be, but we'll probably have to wait until closer to time. I was searching and found links to streams from earlier presentations - like SHIELD - but I can't see anything set up yet for the big Marvel presentation.

Hopefully we'll see things popping up around 30 minutes prior. And if anyone finds a good one, please post a link here when you do.

1hr 15, apparently. I'd say it'll be mostly focused on Strange, GotG2 & Spidey. Panels are usually about 20mins, so that'll be about an hour between the 3.

Thor can wait until next year to be the focus with Black Panther and Infinity Wars.

If there's anything Infinity related here it I don't think it'll be a full panel, more like the cast line-out they did in 2010, get some picsin and then leave, that might be where they announce Capt Marvel.

It's pretty cool that DC released their videos online so we don't have to watch grainy bootleg versions.

But while it makes complete sense, I think it loses some of the magic. Seeing enthusiastic descriptions combined with grainy, low-resolution images seemed to make things seem larger than life. I'm not sure if it's the presentation, content, freshness or a combination, but BVS and Suicide squad both worked a lot better for me than what I saw today.

What I saw looked sort of cool, but didn't knock my socks off, so the bar isn't real high for Marvel.

DC have a lot to make up for. Releasing videos online was the right thing to do in setting up their marketing campaign considering the damage BvS caused. They lost a considerable amount of goodwill and outside of making genuine good movies this is the first step on the road to recovery.

Good point. I think Justice League did what it needed to do in terms of presenting the feeling that the film would be a little more fun than BVS after that film got DC off on the wrong foot.

Prior to BVS, just the idea was so cool that the brief glimpse they gave us was enough to get us excited.

They might not have unveiled anything amazing, but they did what they had to do to keep people interested after a big miss with BVS.

Absolutely. So far things are looking good. SS, WW and JL all look like they're going to be enjoyable movies, and that's the message DC/WB need to send out to audiences and I think so far, they've done a good job.
Now, we just need these films to deliver the goods. If SS is a hot, people will be a lot more receptive and forgiving when it comes to other films. I'm happy with what I've seen so far but if course, time will tell.

I just watched the JL trailer..."Holy damage control Batman!" The only thing It was missing was Benny Hill music. I guarantee you every comedy scene in that film was a studio mandated reshoot. The rest of the movie will be as somber as an 8 year old's funeral. They should've ditched Hack Snyder after MoS. Good luck DC but I'm not holding out hope.
