Season 2, Episode 4-6 (Spoiler Thread)

This show continues to be a delight. The next block of episodes should cross over more directly with Rebels after the United States attacks France. Only two more weeks, but they're going to be awesome weeks, I think.

Damn episode 6 was really satisfying with Bix getting her revenge on that dude and the more Saw Gerrera and Krennic the better since I love both of those actors in those roles so much.

Also, the bit with Luthen talking about killing Krennic was pretty hilarious lol.

Loved episode 6 especially but I'm gonna be honest with you all. Spicy hot take incoming.

The Bail Organa recast is distracting to me. It took me out of the episode for a minute because I had no idea it was coming. My thought process went from "Oh, Benjamin Bratt's in this?" to "Wait, he's WHO?"

If they had to use Bail Organa in this, which given his importance in this particular era of the timeline was a no-brainer, I'd have preferred them using a CGI face double with Jimmy Smits recording VO if he was unavailable to go to the set. Boo me if you must.

No. No more deepfakes.

As much as I like Benjamin Bratt, I'm not a fan of the recast, either. That said, a deep faked Jimmy Smits would be so much more distracting. At least there's a real human face on-screen, instead of whatever artificial monstrosity they'd come up with, which would also age like milk.

When I heard they'd recast a legacy character I was really hoping it would be Tarkin. How likely is it that he'll show up?

Gonna be honest. While I get not liking recasting for living actors who can still properly play the character, I never liked Jimmy as Bail. Part of that was George and his hapless writing and directing. But another part is Bail just felt like a grandpa, not a leader of any Rebellion. And he felt like this in Rogue One and Obi-Wan as well. Bratt instantly felt more like the guy who raised Leia Organa, badass rebel.

That said, Mon Mothma wasn't good until Andor either, so maybe that would've helped.

For me, I have no real attachment to Smits in the role. He's never been more than fine. I don't know if that's him or the material but he's never been inseparable for my money. Bratt's got a good energy to him in that little bit, and based on past performances I expect I'm going to like his take more. Not that I expect to see it again.

For me it's more about continuity because no matter what, seeing a different actor in the role after more than two decades is always going to be jarring, especially when said actor is still alive, not retired, hasn't done anything to warrant getting fired, etc.

I've always felt indifferent towards Smits as Bail. It's not like I've been impressed by anything he brought to the table but I can't say I ever thought he was bad in the role either. But to your point about Mon Mothma, it's a shame that the first time Bail Organa is about to get some really worthwhile material (making an educated guess here because it's Andor) and Smits can't do it because of a scheduling conflict.

For me it's quality or continuity. If this was an actor who bossed the role, I would have issue. Like there is no reason to recast Obi-Wan at this time. But if they wanted to get a real actor for Ahsoka right now, I would be very happy.

Excellent set of episodes. Probably my second favorite behind the Narkina 5 Prison arc last season. And, of of course it was written by Beau Willimon.

I’ve seen some discourse online from people who were upset about the Cinta death, saying it falls into the “Bury Your Gays” trope because she dies in the same episode where a same sex kiss is shown onscreen in order develop another character. While I understand what they’re saying, I don’t think it applies to her and what happened to her.

With that trope, it usually applies to characters whose sole purpose is to die without any development as a plot device to further the another character’s arc. Cinta, throughout the series, was very clearly well developed and treated with just as much importance, reverence and care as any other character on this show. Vel at the end of the episode very clearly admired and loved her from the speech she gives to the Ghorman resistance fighter who accidentally killed her, and that’s going to be felt and carried by them forever. Also, she isn’t the first character to be a casualty of the growing Rebellion’s efforts to take down the Empire, and, judging by the number of characters in the series that we do not see in Rogue One, she’s not going to be the last before this season is over.

Am I sad that she is no longer going to be part of the show? Absolutely. However, all things considered, I’m happy with the way her character was written and thought her exit from the show was done very tastefully.

Upon some reflection of these episodes, I'm beginning to suspect that it wasn't oxygen that Saw was inhaling in his breath mask in Rogue One...

I was sad to see Cinta go but at the same time I've been mentally preparing for every character that doesn't have Rogue One plot armor to die before the season is finished.

As soon as she started getting really personal and intimate with Vel right before the big heist went down, the red flags started going off in my head and I thought to myself, “She’s going to die before the episode is over, isn’t she?”

I hate being right sometimes. :waa::waa::waa:

As opposed to the two actresses and voice actress playing her right now?
Kid is fine, but was a guest appearance. Dawson is the worst major actor they've had since the purchase with only one real rival, but they at least weren't playing a character with a known history. Honestly can't believe how bad she's been. And she isn't good people either.

Cooking.
