Season 7, Episode 3 "The Queen's Justice" Discussion Thread

I wouldnt be so sure. They said they would move towards the same ultimate conclusion but the journey to that conclusion would be like the books in some ways and unlike the books in other ways. So every plot point and event in the show's final three seasons isnt going to appear in the final two books.

I really want to know how exactly will they reveal Jon is a Targaryen. And if that will mean anything to anyone.

I'm looking forward to Dany's reaction when she first hears.

The Mountain-who-does-not-Write gave D&D the major plot points and their resolutions for the entire series so on the one in a million chance that the books somehow finish (likely written by someone else based on notes) expect to see all of these exact same plot points.

They have already deviated from the books in some pretty major ways, so I think it's safe to say not ALL the plot points will line up.

GRRM himself has outright said that there's going to be a lot of massive differences between page and screen.

Would be nice during one of her 'I'm the last Targaryen' speeches.

And then he says like that guy from Independece Day, "That's not entirely accurate...". :p

Maybe Bran can actually show them Jon's birth. I think thats the only way Bran or Jon have a hope of convincing Dany. She's been working towards this goal for years. So even if she believes that Jon is Rhaegar's son she's not going to just say, "Welp, Jon's the rightful heir so I guess I should just bend the knee." Tho ill LMAO if Jon tells her she must bend the knee to him. Even if he is only playing around with her it will be funny to see her reaction.

She can do all the conquering while Jon dosses about. Then Jon nips in just before she gets to sit on the Iron Throne with the official paperwork which Tyrion inspects. 'Hmmm, all seems in order. Congrats to the new King!'

Yeah, as much as I like Jon, Dany has earned the right to rule no matter what her name is. She's done the tough stuff before. :)

She would look really weird on the Iron Throne. It feels like she's always meant to chase it rather than actually win it.

With this show I take nothing for granted. For all you know Littlefinger will beat them all out in the end. :p

I would love to see that happen.

He seemed a little cowed or slightly put in his place by the rise of Sansa recently, with her knowing better in some situations after all her experiences with Joffrey, Cersei and Ramsay. But last episode in that nice little speech he gave he absolutely schooled her in what a scheming grandmaster can really be capable of. Really loved that. Still remember the early days with exchanges between Varys and Littlefinger. That stuff got me hooked on this show.

Most likely. It's a shame Cat won't be around to find out her husband was faithful after all. :csad:

That was my major question about the whole thing. Ned could have trusted Cat with that knowledge. Of course he didn't have to tell anyone else, but Cat would have kept it secret.

I think she would have too. It seems like a secret that could survive well in a marriage and even strengthen it.

And me as well. This show is worth it for the dialog alone. It's complicated and subtle just like the verbal jousting in the Hannibal tv series. Loved that one as well.

Yea ever since the reveal that's what I've been thinking lately too. Cat wouldnt resent Jon so much If she would've just known that secret.

Maybe that was the problem in his eyes - Cat's resentment is the biggest thing that sold the deception. If Cat was weirdly accepting of Jon, people might have gotten an inkling that something was not what it seemed. At least maybe that was how Ned saw it.

At this point I don't think Jon's parentage particularly matters in a political sense. I mean, yeah it could come up in a post-war scenario where he sits the Iron Throne instead of Daenerys, but I figure it's purely going to be an existential crisis for Jon and something he has to deal with and reconcile so that he can get to that point where he's fully the dragonrider he needs to be.

Well she'd have no reason to resent him at all. I guess it needed to be a big twist for the sake of the show but in real life GoT land it would have been nice and maybe the Starks would have lasted longer with the leading figures further united over this huge issue rather than it being treated like a dark, dirty secret.

I haven't seen Hannibal, at all! Will have to boot it up the list.
